Do all Sports Authoritys carry cards? Typically good supplys of different stuff or just a few types?

Got one about 40 miles from here. Might have to take a trip out there

    Heritage Collectors,

How are you going storing your relic cards? Top Loaders? They fit in pages but I'm a bit worried about about corner damage over time.

What is the BEST size top loader to use? 75pt or 100pt? I have some 55 pts holders but they do not fit.

    Thanks,
    John

  • Options
    John...

I prefer to use a 75 pt. toploader with a standard-sized penny sleeve and they fit great - they slide in relatively easy yet won't slide out unless coerced. Hope this helps.

Standard size pennies? You have never had a chipping prob getting the card in? The do make special bigger penny sleeves. Seems to be worth the
2 dollar price tag. I have dinged several heritage cards while putting them in the pennies.

    Kevin,

I was using the bigger pennies for a while, but if you cut a slit on one of the top corners of a standard-sized penny sleeve, then slide it in from that side, they go in without any chipping every time. Takes some extra time, but it is certainly worth it.

    Something like this Ian?

    image
  • Options
    Kevin...

I haven't had any problem with chipping using the standard ones - although it does take more time and care to ensure that this doesn't happen. I actually have some of the larger sleeves, but prefer the fit of the standards. I usually slide one corner in, press it tight to the edge, and then lightly blow some air on the other corner as I slide the card all of the way in...this allows the sleeve to "enlarge" a little to accomodate the card. I will try Ian's method also - to see if it works any better.

Question about cards that are SP's and either Yellow Name or Yellow Team.

Do they all have two variations such as the Cole Hamels? I believe the Nick Swisher has a smaller font size on the team for the SP and a larger one for the Yellow Team variation.

I'm trying to determine of the SP/variation mixes whether I have the SP or the variation in determining what I need for the set.

I looked online but couldn't find a difinitive answer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tim

This is part 2004, part 2007. First for the 2004 - you all know about my relic collection, which is comprised of all the single relics. I've always admired the duals, but the prices have always scared me off. Saw one that I couldn't ignore any more, and now I'm afraid I may be hooked.

    imageimage

OK, on to 2007. I still haven't completed the chromes, and have a bit to go on set #2. Here are my needs and availables:

I know this is a 2007 Heritage Thread, but I still need some chromes from past years. I've been workin on them since March. Kevin and Jim have helped me out immensely with this, but I still need some from each year.

    Here's what I need:

    2006 chrome - 8, 11, 12, 20, 28, 34, 35, 44, 48, 50, 55, 60, 63, 65, 78, 82, 85, 100, 103, 105, 109
    2005 chrome - 9, 18, 23, 35, 37, 46, 54, 68, 86
    2004 chrome - 38, 64, 80
    2003 chrome - 1, 2, 5, 9, 11, 14, 17, 23, 37, 38, 41, 44, 46, 54, 62, 65, 70, 73, 84, 85, 88, 89, 94
    2002 chrome - All except #’s 9, 10, 26, 27, 28, 62, 65, 66, 74, 75, 82, 83, 87, 89, 90, 98

I'd be interested in 2001 chromes as well, but they sell so readily on eBay so I'd understand if you'd want to sell them there.

I'll buy or trade. I have plenty of '07 and '05 Heritage. I have some black/red backs from '01 and a bunch of extra chromes/refractors from '04-'07.

    Thanks guys,

    Ian

Knopfler, I'll hook you up, I've definitely got the ichiro sp from 2003 and a few others, maybe all of them. I'll have to check and get back to you with a pm and some of my needs.

Geordie, I'll check for you too.

Any and all: this is a shout out for any 2002 chromes I need these numbers:

    14, 23, 30, 37, 45, 47, 48, 52, 59, 65, 68, 80, and 81

I will pay $$ or I have tons of tradeable heritage (all years) sp's, base, inserts, chromes (no 2001s though).

01 is no joke right now. I think the 02 set is undervalued, since boxes can still be had for less than $100. I think that Snider might top 1k, the highest price I've ever seen for a non-cut Heritage card. It's brother (the Minoso) is up right now as well, from the same seller. I imagine he is about to blow a cow.

Jeff was right on the money with his prediction. The Snider went for $1147.22. I've seen the high bidder win a lot of the higher end Heritage stuff.

    Here's the latest insanity:

    Mackowiak Black #1

    Mackowiak Black #2

    Mackowiak Black #3

I won #3, and will most likely just try to flip it to help cover the huge Heritage lot I just picked up. On that note, I will have extras of just about every SP, and a ton more chromes, so if anyone needs anything, just let me know. I'm trying to finish the chrome and ref sets.
