  • (1) Sealed Set just went for $870.00
  • The opened sets are leveling around $540.00 and the 10 set sealed box isn't hitting $9000.00. Maybe they will stabilize.

Check the coin world adverts lately? Also the single burnished 'W' UNC? No slow down I can see............Rick

I also see the regular 2006-W (Z6F) UNC (NGC MS69) still creeping up, $120. + now..
PCGS coins are a little higher.

Wonder where these will be in 6 mos?

Just talkin' from a raw set or raw single 'W' UNC aspect, I think the set will hit 1K and the single 'W' UNC will probably hit $200+..........Rick

Saw an opened ASE set closed today on the bay @ $651.00
Maybe we can see an upward movement still .
Seems to still got some kick left in it.

They still have plenty of kick left. Advertisers are buying all they can get in coin world and the price is climbing every day.

Nah, You'll be alright........after all. you're alright now.........I think the stink about first strike, early issue graded stuff is for a group/league all on it's own. However, I do believe the raw set will continue to climb as that is where the majority of sets are. Also, watch the 2006 W UNC climb as well...........Rick

  • I have a 10-31 sealed box containing 2 sets. Aren't the Rev. Proof, and Proof still elegible for first strike? I think i'm going to sell it, and make note of it in the description/listing. I don't care about the label, but I think it would be an attention getter for some. And, I haven't seen many sealed boxes with FS coins lately. Am I wrong about the date??

Doesn't seem to be leveling off to me..........

I paid $1000 for this same box Oct. 14, 2006

I'll never forget this Mint order:

    AE 20TH ANNIVERSARY 3-COIN SILVER RBU 10 $100.00 $1,000.00 10 units shipped on 12/16/2006

I think there going to go up in price in jumps. It will take a while before they level off.

The crazy thing is 1 year from now you may regret selling it for 8K.
I can't imagine that but I think these have a long way to go still.

I bought ten sets and sold 20 of the 30 coins early for a great profit. (3K over cost)
    I still have (4) MS69 (1) PR70 and (5) RP69's (NGC).

I have been tempted to sell but I will hold on to these as long as I can.

  • Aren't people just buying the reverse proof in these opened sets? Why all the hype when two of the coins won't ever grade with the 20th anniversary label. I've seen several NGC 2006 PF70s go for around $70-$80. I've got two opened sets myself and am wondering when to pull the trigger.

Alot of people dont care about getting them graded. They want the coins in the OGP package. Though I do agree the reverse proof is driving the price of the set.
  • Does seem to be cooling off a little...

    $520 raw set

I sold my last PCGS set w/milkspots for around $670 just last week.

i think they are just catching their breath. an RP PR69 SHOULD be a $1k coin in six months.

the sealed boxes of 10 sets (I dislike the Apostle reference) will need to lead the way though...those spiked and are out of breath (temporarily)

<< <i>I sold my last PCGS set w/milkspots for around $670 just last week. >>

Was the buyer aware of the milk spots? If so, perhaps people don't care as much about them as I imagined. >>

Oh yes, I make sure they know what they're getting. I even said "all sales final" and they still bid them up.

I think it's also possible that some collectors might not even know what milkspots are.

It's my belief that the 2006 w ASE coins will take a brief breather.... the price jump above $500 brought out a larger supply, and that is being absorbed. However, prices are not being affected very negatively.

Also, summer is here.... and some are taking a wait and see to see if the 2007 offerings may offer a better chance of price appreciation. However, I do not think the 2007 will be a very good year for that... and once the collectors realize that, the 2006 W will be off to the races again...

I must confess that I thought $500 would be the top for at least 6 months.
  • For the last two or three weeks, $525-$550 seems the norm.
  • Seem to be dropping now. Any thoughts?
  • SUMORADASUMORADA Posts: 4,797
    maybe the 2007 w's unc.

The prices are dropping. Several FS eligible unopened boxes selling for under $8,000. Most raw sets selling for under $550. link

    it's SUMMER.....................

these things cant go STRAIGHT UP

what did you all expect, non-stop to $1000 a set.

wait for October- November timeframe, you'll see steady climbing again
  • Market over hyped and manipulted IMO, any market that goes up that fast retraces hard and recovery can take a long time.

That show on TV was hawking them for $999 for NGC 69 sets.

  • So I bought two sets... one has milkspots on the reverse proof image
Should I send these in to get slabbed when I do my next submission or keep them in original packaging? I plan to keep one set forever and sell the one with spots in a year or two (maybe). Am I right in that the ROI of slabbing is significantly over the slabbing cost? Will the spotting affect the grade?
  • Geesh..........this guy really wanted this particular set. BIN are running about $550 and this guy paid $711 today. More money than brains.

Crazy price for a 20th anniversary set
  • Seems that opened sets are settling under $500 lately. Additionally, I saw an unopened set end at only $650.

    edited to add "Additionally"
  • I'm a mathematician and computer programmer and I can say with 75% certainty that $650 isn’t under $500 :-)

Don't confuse the opened sets with the unopened sets.

  • Stopped in a new (for me) coin shop today to pick up some plastic flips. He didn't have much in the way of American Eagle's in any metal, so ask him about anniversary sets. He was pretty didinterested and said the last one he had about a month ago, he sold for $350. I'm going to be watching this shop a little closer.

Did you notice that the price of the reverse proof jumped $40.00 today!

  • << <i>any market that goes up that fast retraces hard and recovery can take a long time >>

    Generalize much?
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
  • Weaker prices this weekend. Opened sets seem to be going for $450-$480, and I can think of a few reasons why:

    -Market correction
-Flippers realize that now is the time to sell sell sell since the price has peaked
-The notion that more and more opened sets could have been "rearranged" to contain less pristine pieces.

    Anyone else have an opinion?
