origin/reason for King George III 'bull head' bust?

I mentioned below that i'm bidding on a 'bull head' HC in the Long Beach auction (thread below), and that made me wonder something.
I would imagine that rulers have complete control over how their bust/pictures/coins look with them on it. What i mean to say, is that they would have a vested interest in portraying a certain 'look' or 'image' to their country. Any idea why the King opted to have the weird-ish 'bull head' bust on the obverse of some of his later coins? was this some sort of tough guy posturing or something? any ideas?
your history nut,
Doug

<< <i>By that time George III had already gone nuts, so I'm not sure how much control he would have had.
aha! i had forgotten about his later insanity. that would probably explain it!
Kinda looks like Nero.

Exactimundo. Neoclassicism was hot then. Look at Pistrucci's St. George, riding bareback (and barebutt). Doesn't exactly look English, does he? Very Greek.

<< <i>Hey, Being Greek is okay, Dimitri, as long as you aren't riding horseback naked, wearing only a helmet and stabbing dragons with a shortsword. >>
Are you doing any of these things Dimitri? Tell the truth!
