2007 Gold Buffalo Cancelation???

BECOKABECOKA Posts: 16,961 ✭✭✭
The mint just canceled one of my two orders (Much less than the limit) with no reason given. Did anyone else experience this?

They state that the order goes into in stock and reserved to make sure people are complying with the limit of 100. Is there really this much demand to follow up and cause delay's with 80K orders?

Thoughts?

    ??? The US Mint ???

There is no rhyme nor reason to the US Mint's procedures....but then, there is little that governmental agencies do which make a lot of sense, eh??
  • Here is what the mint site says:

In order to ensure the broadest and most fair access to United States Mint products, a limit of 100 units per order and per household is in effect. Accordingly, all orders for American Buffalo Gold Proof One Ounce Coins will go immediately into a backorder status to ensure compliance with this policy. The quality assurance process should not impact the estimated delivery time. The United States Mint may reevaluate this limit and either adjust or remove it at any time.

Who would be dumb enough to order 100 proofs after seeing the price drop of the 2006s?

Personally I really like the Buffalo's more than the Golden Eagles.

I'm a subscriber to the series, but dont see much of a premium yet. The mint has ways of creating scarcity . and PCGS / NCG play right into it with the specialized holders.

Todays fads are tomorrow's history. The best values are in the rare coins, not the hot coins.

The Mint could put an order limit of " 1 coin " per household - and still it would be too high for me.

Telemarketers - as said in the previous post.... and by placing enough orders, can create a false scarcity... then increase their already ludicrous prices with 'RARE, HARD TO FIND, SCARCE' hype that just lures in more suckers. Cheers, RickO

Yes the prices will immediately reduce for anything graded PR69. On the other hand if you can get the first strike label from PCGS there were only 200+ PR70's Graded and the market pricing is still around 3K each.

The total mintage limit for the 2007 was reduced this year. 100 coins with a loss on the 69's and the gains for what most likely will be less than 200 PR70's might make sense.

The reason there are so few first strikes is not many people have the capitol to buy more than a handful at a time and most will not be submitted in time.

Lets not turn this into a first strike issue thread.

The Mint is pushing them... I just received my email notification and snail mail notice of availability. Cheers, RickO
