This auction is Friday and the web site is gwbellantiques.com. The coins in question are the 1802/1 NGC AU 58 $5 Gold Liberty and the 1881-S NGC 64PL $5 Gold. The PL designation appears to be very rare. What are your thoughts?

interesting, but the pics leave a lot to be desired on that lib
    half eagle.

i cannot tell if i think the coin is AU58-64... but it does appear
to be PL. keep in mind it is a really common date.
  • They are also selling a "Large 2000 replica of Standing Liberty silver dollar" AKA 2000 ASE. This seems to be the opposite of ebay descriptions.

True, and as far as pricing quite a few in the past have gone unsold at auction due to slightly high reserves (in most cases). The star designation does signify "an unusually high grade for the coin" so that may hold some weight with some collectors thus deserving its due premium. Also, I believe that MS64 is the highest grade realized on the 1/2 eagle, from both PCGS and NGC. The 02 1 has a decent grade at 58 and could fetch around 9K or more on a GOOD day!
