is the grade F15 net?
is the coin raw?
thanks. neat coin. i know very little about them.
from the general thinking behind that if a coin costs 100s of dollars
one can get more for it, if it was slabbed. allows buyers to have
more confidence.
when i see a no-motto half eagle for sale that is semi scarce, i
immediately convert into what is wrong with the coin mode.
i do not know or can tell from the pics if the coin has been cleaned
or has hairlines.. etc...
what kind of risk is involved buying a fake or cleaned coin in this
series?

Fake? Not very high. Cleaned? Extremely high--whether it is raw OR slabbed.
Editted to add. And no, I don't see anything which would net this coin down to Fine, but I would only grade it VF details. Nor, at that grade level do I feel that it needs to be certified in order to maximize a price.
You got a great first capped bust dime. Your attribution is correct.
It is very challenging to collect the series in unmessed with condition regardless of grade.
Look into the JRCS for addition information regarding the early dimes.

Capped Bust Dimes
Check out the 1820 STATESOFAMERICA my detecting buddy dug. I hunted the same site but haven't found any coins, just buttons and other relics. (Oh, I did find an 1876 Indian cent down the hill from the site.)
He sold or swapped me that coin and got over $200 for it on eBay. If it had been my personal find, I never would've sold it.
He dug this 1819 cent on the same site. It looks even nicer in hand. I still have it.
At the risk of hijacking your Bust dime thread, I will add that another friend of mine dug a 1799 Spanish half-real on the same site.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
