Quandry regarding sealed 2006 SAE sets

OK, here is the situation...

I bought 2 sets of the 2006 ASE sets for my kids when they got older. Hearing all the speculation on the board about how these will be 2nd behind the 95W as key dates for the series, I broke down and bought 5 more just for speculation (actually got the order in 2 days before they sold out). Ironically due to SNAFUs with DHL and the post office, I got my 5 set order first and tore into the box to see how beautiful the sets were and since I was keeping some anyway, I didn;t think about keeping the box prestine. I got the original 2 sets about 45 days later and seeing how the sealed boxes are selling on EBay (and thinking about sending them in to get graded), I left those in the box. Here is the quandry - do I sell them in the unopened box (as I bought 5 sets as investment) and be happy getting almost $2K for them, send them in to PCGS and pray one of the RP comes out MS70 then sell them, or hold on to them longer? I don't need the money, but getting a 1000% return in 6 months is pretty hefty. Thanks in advance for any comments!

Go for the gold.... holding on to them is a gamble. (spots, fickle market etc.) Cheers, RickO
  • You don't need the money,so put them away in the sealed boxes and forget about them until you need to remind yourself that you still have them.

I already have 2 sets of 70's and 2 sets of 69's. I also have a raw opened set too. So I think iam going to save the 2 sealed box of ASE. I may sell in the near future the AGE set if the price is right. image

I have 2 in a sealed box. I thought about opening it but figured the worst case scenario is that before I sell, they drop back down to what I paid for them

They will never drop back to what you paid for them, not with 2 key coins in the set.

    I doubt that as well.

What's the difference if you sell it unopened on eBay now or in 6 months. They may already have milkspots, noone will know until they get opened!
