At this point, who knows? Could be 20k in 2 months. image I think I'd have to be a seller at that point.

Here's another box of 10 on Ebay to keep tabs on. It's over 7k and ends late tonight.

I think that is a lot of money for RP proofs that will not grade 70. The production at the end wasn't the best quality.

  • RE: the link in Jcarney's post. Up to $7800.00 with 2 hours left. It is fun to watch the price levels evolve.
  • $8500 with hour and a half to go.

Well. . .I only bought one set when they were available, but if someone offered me $800 for it, I'd take it.

    And, closed at that amount....

$8500 for a 10set box (unopened) 3pc SAE 20th Annv Set that cost the original purchaser $1004.95 (includes shipping from the USMint).

Wow! Ebay gets some nice fees. Seller (his dad actually from the sounds of it) gets a fantastic ROI for roughly 6 months of holding!!!!

    True.

I do wonder the ultimate shakeout price of the RP though..(as well as the high price).

The 30k minted 1995W got up to around $6k+.
This is not even close to that mintage but is much cooler, imho.

I could see $600-$800 for these, w/o milkspots, ultimately....but, if the prices for unopened is like this right now, I could see it also going, in my dreams, to $1000-$1500 per RP.

I could tell you that if they don't go up, then they will go down.image

While the supply is thin during the price climb, the market would be flooded if the prices start to drop.

  • Another Judas box is there with 6 days to go and already $8500 and there's another for $9.900 BIN. Also there's a box of 2 for us poor folks to consider.....LOL.

There's also this one which closed at $8300. That makes 3 boxes of ten which closed at $8k or more this weekend.

    Ebay link

So what to make of this? Does the fact that more unopened boxes of ten aren't coming out of the woodwork to snag these high prices mean prices are going even higher? Are there really no more boxes of ten to be had? Are the flippers really about done? Or is this the top? A top, by definition, is the largest amount of buyers and the fewest sellers.

I will say this: This has been amazing and very fun to watch. It reminds me of 1999 all over again watching a stock go parabolic.

I knew I should have scraped up the $5750 somehow to get the 10 box off of the b/s/t a day or so ago.

Is the auction for 10 sets or 8 sets ?

    Auction Heahing reads like :

So I suppose there must be 8 sets ?

Looking at the 3 coin set sale on Ebay over the weekend, it really looks like only the unopened boxes of 10 spiked in price. The opened/69 graded sets went up to the $550ish level which is higher than before but not excessively so. I even saw a single unopened set which sold last night at "Best Offer" for only $600. I'm thinking that the unopened boxes of 10 selling for $8k plus is the aberration here. The singles, graded and raw, seem to be marching steadily higher with none of the toppy action of the "Judas" boxes.

  • I had a case of 10 sealed sets that qualified for first strike status. I wonder what that would go for today. $10K+?

I guess I should confess that in December I turned down a chance to buy 100 FS 69-69-69 sets for 40K.

These high prices are bringing boxes out in greater quantity, but prices are holding steady in the $800+/set range for sealed boxes. I think there are a dozen or two for auction now, with many already bid over $800 per set.

Even opened sets are selling left and right at about $540 to 560/set.

I wish I had a crystal ball to know if this climb will be sustained, level, decline, or crash.

To give an indication of how hot these are, I sold a slabbed reverse proof (BIN auction) a half hour after it was listed.
  • Opened or unopened, they contain the same coins. How many of you fall for the open/unopened joke? I guess if you are the owner, its a very nice profit. I have 4 opened sets I will be listing on the BST forum soon.

You are correct. Of course, an MS69 First Strike 20th Anniversary 2006-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle is also the exact same as an MS69 2006-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle...but look at the price difference generated by a few words on a slab. Same coin, same grade, same grader. Go figure.
