Any "Godless" Adams Dollars Yet?

Has anyone found an Adams Presidential Dollar with a blank edge yet?

Also, remember PCGS's standing reward offers:

$10,000 for the first Sacagawea Dollar with Presidential edge lettering

$10,000 for the first Sacagawea Dollar struck over a Presidential Dollar (or vice versa)

You're probably right. I suspect that the "Godless" Adams Dollars will turn out to be very rare because the Mint is going to be a lot more careful this time around.

I think the reward should be higher for this coin since it might never happen if the coins are being struck at different time and at different areas.

If I worked for the company that prepared the planchets for the mint, I would seed a few sacks in! Maybe an SBA as well....

I think it was a good thing for the Mint that "Godless" dollers made it to circulation. It sure added a lot of hype. Hell, I saw it on CNN. Im sure more people are aware that these dollars actually exist because of the error. The Mint better hope similar errors arise in later Pres. Dollar issues.

    ..........................................

I suspect that the mint will assure that some errors slip through.

There is no other viable means by which they can massively publicize/hype
their worthless, un-needed, non-useful, and certain not to circulate product.

The TOPPS trading-card model of producing intentional errors will have to be
adopted by the Mint, if they want US to remain even slightly interested in the
    series.

I'm not so cynical. Secondly, it is very difficult to conspire to do such a thing with so many hourly workers involved who would be glad to leak the story of such a conspiracy to the newspapers etc. Third, they don't have to conspire because the nature of the two part process almost ensures that some will be missed, even with the excellent quality control record that the mint has. --Jerry

As far as I know, production for the Adams coins was started before the Washingtons were even released. Until the entire production process is seamless and there is no pressure to crank out more coins than can be put through the lettering press, there will be incentive to bypass the lettering press, thus producing more smooth edged dollars.

There are persons at the mint who are part of a grand "conspiracy" to completely and totally eliminate from the good old USA any reference to or memory of god and religion. Presidential dollars without the edge lettering motto IGWT is one fo many small steps towards this nefarious goalimage

Hopefully the forces of good at the mint will root out the perfidy of the conspirators and stamp out this foul plot by stamping the edge lettering motto on all of the glorious presidential dollars.

How come the scammers haven't sanded off the letters yet? That was a common thing with the GW's right?
  • pf70collectorpf70collector Posts: 6,840 ✭✭✭
600 searched. No Adam's smoothies, not even an extra curl.

It was common but quite detectable. Didn't work for them there so why should they try it again???

Just finished first case of 1000 P's. Nothing but the normal dinged up prezzie dollar. Edge lettering is a lot cleaner and obverse and reverse strikes seem deeper into the coin.
