Moderator, the dirty word filter you are using is worthless
I cannot post a link because the linked word Market watch all run together is considered a bad word.. Crappy filter, worthless if it wont allow links.
How can I post similar links?
Here is message I received.
You have a forbidden word in your message post. Please click the back button in your browser and remove this word from your post. The words that are forbidden are highlighted for you.
[Link to article that mentions the Euro/Asian holiday.]http://www.marke****ch.com/news/story/gold-futures-fall-three-session-low/story.aspx?guid={6DEF21A3-2941-466F-B75C-E9FFF1E47463}[/L]
What do I do? The hyperlink does not work either..
Also, who in the hell (is hell allowed?,we will see) but exclusive children's sites use these kind of filters? Get real..
Sorry, that miffed me.
Regards

<< <i>use a tinyurl, that should work. >>
The problem with tinyURLs is that some people use them to mask bad urls so some people avoid tinyurls all together.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

ps - from experience ... if you get the error message, you'd best highlight and save your post or you'll have to start all over!

<< <i>I'm OK with the filter. I'll put up with the occasional inconvenience to avoid a constant stream of vulgarity-filled posts. >>
There's nothing inherently wrong with the filter. They should just (and hopefully this is possible) add some exceptions for the known numismatic words which get filtered because of them. (And I do wonder how user sonofagunk was ever able to get his username...)

Also, anyone including a kid has access to horrible stuff on and off the computer (watch the news?) even the best filters cannot keep them away from.
Besides, a good moderator should knock down vulgar nasty stuff quickly, filters seldom work and are more of a pain in the arse.
And..
If you can filter out a bad word, what else can you filter?
And other than maybe Disney sites and parents at home, who filters words?
Nice try by the Cu but not needed and worthless if the site is well run with a good moderator.
Just Mho
Regards to all
PS.FYI I only started this thread because I could not post a really good article that other members would have enjoyed and I am no fan of any type of censorship.

There is a keyword in that sentence

What keyword would that be?

<< <i>IMO, it's really silly to have something that filters out words such as Atwater on a numismatic chatroom.

How did you slip that word through on your post?

True........PCGS foolishly reasoned that high posts would equal good citizenship on these forums.
Example #1: Atwater = At [ b ] [ / b ] water (minus the spaces)
Example #2: Shitake Teriyaki = Shi [ b ] [ / b ] take Teriyaki (minus the spaces)
Comes in handy when you have a legitimate reason to type a legitmate non-banned word that the filter catches.
no one can type sonoFAGunk

Nice job in filter avoidance!! My first experience with the filter had me amazed as I couldn't figure out why it was being filtered... until I realized it pick parts of words out, as in: PEAC.OCK
for the Peac.ock dollars, we should just change their name
to something pleasing like ' Utah paints'
no disrespect to all the present owners as I have never seen one, let alone own one

Personally, I would love to read more vulgarity-filled posts!
But I don't think it's that big of a deal, either...
just switch the first "t" to a %54 and away you go. it was not
unicode i was thinking of, but hexidecimal.

Cool trick! I'll remember that one.
See, I can get bad words past the filter.
