Nice coin. Are you going to give a report about the show? How was it, what was there, what wasn't there, etc.

All they have to do is copy and paste the PM to me and they will have done it! It sounded like your typical local monthly coin culb show with around 50 or so tables......

I'd like to hear how the advice you got in your earlier thread worked for you at the show.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Good report! Doubling on Bust halves is quite common. Sounds like a great experience for your first time!

  • Nice JPO - I know the feeling... went to my first coin show on saturday (with absolutely no nuthin)... and came back with a Merc Dime (which I know nothing about) that jumped outta the case at me too.
(I couldn't afford the $3600 slabbed & gunmetal toned Buffalo nickel that jumped out first - LOL)

Nice report and bustie. If you can get a pic of the reverse there are a lot of guys who will be able to tell you the overton number (the variety which tells the dies used to strike the coins) and a better idea on the grade. Hope you enjoyed your first show image
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

  • I also went to my first coin show this weekend, the Grapevine Tx show. It was a lot of fun, got to see some very nice coins up close. After scoping the place out I basically camped at the Arlington Coins, Inc. table and rumaged through their WLH's. The guys there were really nice and gave me some awesome deals, they helped me get a good start on a short AU set. No it is not a high grade set with some having wear or being cleaned, but they look nice to the naked eye (you can't tell by the pic) and fit my current budget.

  • I have been to that show a few times and it's a pretty good little show. I'm in between cincy and indy and it's a much better show than the Indy show IMO. They have a wide variety of dealers from gold to rare date to foriegn dearlers. There is a dealer that is very much on the high side of prices though and I don't stop at his table anymore.
