The numismatic community loses another YN this Saturday...

p8ntp8nt Posts: 2,947 ✭✭✭
You read that right. I'm no longer going to be a participating young numismatist. I don't really have a choice in the matter. Outside forces have come to play in this bitter/sweet situation. Goodbye.

Regards,

- Ben Thompson, Y.N.

When I was 18 coins were the last thing on my mind. At least coins with numismatic value.

I don't think, from the sounds, that it is "turning 18". If it is only that, then cool.

Ben, if it is something else, like it sounds, then I wish you the best!

    It's all in your head.

I just wished a young intern in our company whom I have had the great pleasure of working with for the last 4 months and helping him be a better person when it comes to construction safety- and he learned a little bit about coins as well. his favorite is the Jefferson nickle and the Ike dollar- he got one of each today.

For p8nt- I truly hope this is not the case. we are sending way to many youngsters over in that crap hole to fight for an un winnable battle.

p8nt come back or PM those that have a spot here for you.

    you will be missed.

Oh no p8nt! I truly hope you are just turning 18 and wording it very dramatically. You have always been one of my favorite forum members here. I have always admired the level of knowledge and buying/selling experience you have for a YN.

P8nt, wherever life takes you now (assuming it's not just turning 18 and not being technicaly a YN), I presume it's more pressing than coins. That was certainly true for most of us at your age. Come back and join us when your inclinations lean our way again.

Much good fortune wherever you go and whatever you do!

Ben, I hope it's just you turning 18 but if not then I wish you the best and send me a PM.
  • When I was 18-20 silver was on the run up in 1979-81 and I was cashing in my silver accumulations from when I was young. Spent it at the bars. image The timing was right money wise, but I remember giving away an awesome Booker T in Gem unc for $8 that would have graded highly now. It's the only coin I really miss from that sell off. The dealer seemed pretty happy to get it.

Congrats on turning 18, if that's the case. Hope it is.image
Witty sig line currently under construction. Thank you for your patience.

Many of you have guessed it.

I don't drink and I was getting into bars and clubs when I was 17 anyway, so I would rather be 18 than 21 again image

Sheesh, who are you?? Harry Reid Jr.???????? What a terible thing to say to someone, if in fact that is what he is doing. I'm glad there are thousands of young men and women out there who even with the negative ninnies proudly serve this great nation. I know htere are as I've met many of them during my own son's deployment and service.
Whatever the case is Ben, you always have a place here, and in the numismatic community wherever you are or whatever you are doing.

Haha wow. Sorry guys. I just got home a few minutes ago. Anyways, as some of you have guessed, it is my birthday tomorrow and I'll be turning 18! Sorry if my wording ruffled any feathers, I was in a creative mood when I wrote it image

I've been busy with school lately (20 days left) and upcoming college stuff, which has unfortunately prevented my attendance often lately, but I'm not going anywhere. I'm here for good with you guys image
