$850,000 price increase in under 2 years... not too shabby.
Assuming there were no better opportunities lost while the money was tied up.

So, how quickly does the new owner crack it out of the slab and try to get it into a 67 holder?? .....
In all seriousness, congratulations to those involved. That coin is a great piece of numismatic history, and I hope it provides the hobby with a little extra press.

Wow!! Cannot imagine spending that on a coin . Laura was right , there is still big money in the coin market. Advise to buyer , crack it out , 3 months in a taco bell napkin and resubmit to PCGS
The greater fool theory at work, you just don't want to be the last fool to own such a coin before the market collapses. A Japanese Insurance Co paid $100 million for one of Vincent Van Gogh's sunflower paintings. I read they took over a 50% loss when the painting was sold.
Congratulations to Bruce, but don't forget to congratulate Laura and George at Legend. They both held real ownership stakes in the coin as well.
I don't know if the coin would upgrade, but a while ago a well known coin doctor did offer to put some rainbow toning on the nickel for a nominal fee.

It might be. He's earned enough money from Halliburton to buy all five.

Nah, he isn't a Kelliforniyan. Is Herr Schwarzenfuhrer a collector though?
All I know is, though I reside in the state, it ain't me. Hell, I can't keep my mouth shut if I buy the most insignificant VAM.
