What's up with this ?

I sold a set of 2006 ASE's To a person with a zero feedback rating. They are two weeks Late with the payment, And now is not a registered user. This morning, After seeing they are no longer registered, They flash me a e/mail saying they sent payment yesterday. Should I send the payment back, Or send the ASE set. What is ethical. I wish to keep the coins. imageimage

What's it matter if they pay? I'd sure keep the coin for a least 10 days though to make sure the check clears.image

I think it would depend on the form of payment. No matter what I wouldn't ship until the payment clears!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Money is money, if the payment clears what does it matter?
  • Transaction cancelled, they are not registered, so the sale is invalid.

Unless, of course, you want to get ripped off!

The buyer is at risk here not the seller. He has the coin and he has the payment to put in the bank, no risk for him if it clears. This is out of Ebay protection now for the buyer.image
  • The buyer only claims he sent payment, it doesn't make it true. I've never had a buyer 2 weeks late on payment ever actually pay, although many have attempted to string me along with various claims that they had paid. If it were me, I would rip up the check and keep the coins, assuming the check actually did arrive. The seller is not protected--he can put a stop payment on the check, or write a bounced check. Either way, if the seller sends the coins before the check clears, it is the buyer who holds all the cards. And by clear, I don't mean when the money shows up in the seller's account--I mean when the check clears the buyer's bank, which takes 10 days.

I don't understand what's the big deal here. Wait for payment to arrive, make sure it is completely cleared through the banking system, then send the coins.

The first time I accepted payment a month after it was due, the buyer then claimed that my pictures weren't accurate and returned the item.

    There wasn't a second time.

  • Remember, there are fake checks, fake money orders, fake casheirs checks, and also chargebacks on paypal for fraudulent credit cards. Had all of them happen to me, and it's why I ONLY take Paypal, unless I know the person. And, I follow the paypal rules exactly.

Amen. Just give it plenty of time to clear.

But if you are uncomfortable for some reason, it would be your right to cancel the auction and send payment back.

I agree with waiting plenty of time for the check to clear. At this point it is your option as the seller being NAR'Ud has no recourse. You have no fear of negative feedback. SO you can feel free to do as you please, you are under no obligation at this point. JMHO. Bob

Make sure that the payment isn't a bogus check sent from a "law office" in Beverly Hills. If the funds clear, send the coins insured with signature confirmation.

I can't help but wonder if they registered with ebay to make that purchase, then unregistered.

Then why all the drama? You know your not bound to sell the coin, I guess you think you can get more but it looks like a good way to get all the buyers money without Ebay fees to me. Good Luck.image

I don't care for Drama, I really think this payment will not be sent. This person has been jerking me around for almost three weeks. I am a firm beleiver of giving a person the benefit of the doubt. However you have to draw a line at some point. With a zero feedback rating, & now not registered, this payment " WILL " be returned regardless. I wonder why it is someone would bid on a set of coins & not make payment. As you well know, I will have no problem selling this set, If in fact I choose to do so.image
