1801 1c , will this grade at PCGS??

  I'm by NO means an expert on old copper but don't the fields appear to be all "pocky"? If so, it looks like old corrosion damage to me.

  I would say 50% chance of that slabbing, 50% chance of either "environmental damage" or "questionable color." I have seen worse in PCGS plastic, but you never know. I would not submit an S-223 in that grade for slabbing, personally, unless I had a Registry set going. It's just not a rare coin in that grade, and most collectors would crack it out of the plastic soon after purchasing it anyway.

  I see no reason to slab it. No real opinion on PCGS.
