  • I read the mint is eager on producing these but have not obtained the neccesary legislative appoval yet. Or maybe with the 250,000+ subscriptions to the presidential proofs coming out soon, they just want to sell those first image

The best way for this to happen is for the sets to come out very late in the year and have production problems leading to a small mintage for the first year image

  • If they make Silver Proof versions of the Presidentials, I think they should include them in the full silver proof set.

I had always understood that the reason that the SAC, Nickel, and Cent in the Silver Proof Set were not silver is there was no precedent for them.

If they DO make silver proof dollars sold as a separate product, then it would be odd to include bronze versions in the Silver Proof set...

  • How are these in the new 08 Red Book and no one knows anything about these? Will be out after summer or later in the year I'm guess'n?
    Thanx!
  • Would that make the 2008 Red Book an error? And how can i get a VAM designation on it?
  • There WILL BE silver proof Prez. dollars in the silver set this year. Thats why the price went up on them.

    I'm with Burks, ??????

There are NO such coins out at present and none planned definately; maybe some will come up and be sleepers later in the year as was stated. We need some goodies this year, not to complain about last year...

Well, the price would have gone up just because there are four more $ coins than before, even if they are not Silver.

I don't know folks but since the SAC that came in the Silver Proof Sets wasn't silver, I wouldn't expect the presidential dollars to silver.

Also, with the price of silver and the fact that the coins would be proofs, I'd expect the price to be an additional $40 more.

There's probably little collector demand for silver Sacs, however I'm willing to bet lots of people will line up to buy silver Presidentials which means *cha*ching* for the Mint. I think they just need approval.

True...but they will not be made out of Silver. The Mint did not received approval for Silver Prez. $ from the Sec. of the Treasury.

The red book may have jumped the gun. I wonder what the information was that made them think there would definitely be silver versions? It could still happen, but approval would have to be given fairly quickly. image
