  I had a similar dime a while back but mine had the full date.
  I believe the consensus was that this type of error is called an 'collar clash'.

  I think he is talking more about the details on the obverse and reverse. This is a clashed die error. The dies come together without a planchet between them. The dies "clash" and impart details to each other that then end up on the next few coins that are struck by that pair of dies until the details are obliterated by the further striking of coins.

  Do these "clashed die errors" bring a premium? I seem to notice them on modern Roosies more than any other coin, but usually just spend them. Are they worth more with if the clash is harsher as this one appears or a little less as there isn't a full date?
