I saw that $50 coin grading fee and laughed. But then it dawned on me, clever marketing. Think about, you start a "Grading service" so it gives your "slabbed" coins validity. You don't really want to grade anybody elses coins, so you price your "service" high enough that nobody will use it.
Better said : Who in the World are the Coin Graders ?
I know who they are - they're the layed-off graders from the grading company that was attempting to sue everyone and their brother here and accross the street...so no names mentioned.
Mike Hayes ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !
That may indeed be the most overgraded coin I have ever seen. The "PL" designation is beyond ludicrous.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
I guess I dont get it. The other MS67 turds he has listed look to be at least AU, most BU. Probably have lots of other "problems" for sure. But this? THIS? Why did he do this? I mean it was a "great thing" what he was doing with the BU looking coins. Why screw it all up with this embarassment?

Makes me wish Sheldon had trademarked his scale and his estate could only license the grading terms to publications and above the board TPG's. This slab might have still received some bids just labeled Superb gem uncirculated, but most around the industry would know if it isn't labeled with the trademarked MS/PF-xx it isn't from a reputable source.
Lawrence has a feedback of (4). Just think, there are thousands like him dumping millions into crap like this. How long before numerous complaints to a Congresscritter result in legislation that wil provide govt. interference into our hobby. For this reason alone all of us must become more proactive in denouncing these frauds. Lawrence spent two hundred and change on a coin that at best would grade vf and worth $65 if it's not cleaned. Though obviously a newbie even he returned it. How many have not? Like everyone else I can't fathom why he couldn't see from the picture that the coin is pure crap. And the seller didn't even try to photoshop the image. He was that confident that there are enough newbies that wouldn't have the foggiest idea what a ms 66 should look like. A second issue: it's becoming increasingly difficult to sell properly graded coins on ebay since the proliferation of these crapslabbers/sellers. A lot of uninformed buyers would naturally rather have a ms 68 coin for the same price or less than my ho-hum PCGS ms 64. Especially if they are led to believe it might be worth $50,000 or more. Tell me about it. I went to eBay after the frustration of consignment fees and bad/no lot descriptions from the big houses. Put some very nice coins for sale and either didn't sell or lost money. Bidders are looking for bargains (like everywhere else too) but also seem to think anything on the bay has to have something wrong with it.
A self grader decides to use a 100 point system...... uses VG-F-VF coins and lists them as MS-50 - MS-70 on his scale (every coin being mint state with varying degrees of wear...... All semantics and double talk, but it's the garbage that works)......
TITLE in LARGE LETTERS MS-60....... Explanation of HIS grading scale hidden on HIS "ABOUT ME" page.........
MISLEADING, YES!!!!!! ..... Illegal, I'm not sure, although I doubt it....... (They could always claim that they are using the standard established by the new GB slabbing company CGS)
If we used the same standards for coin sellers that we use for certain media type, this seller would be banished from ever selling another U.S. coin again.

$355... Geez. When will these bidders ever learn???

Holy Mess!
That is shameful.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Rarely do I like to use the term, but I think "LOL" applies well here.

30 day turn around, too. All they have are MS67 or MS70 grade labels. A monkey can be trained to seal the slabs. Pfft.
