Lets see your coin pic configuration

I was curious to see how others take those killer pics.
Here is my generic setup:
1. A white table with a camera mount stand.
2. My grandfathers brass and oak 4" calipers, which he made. (I use it for a shim sometimes)
3. A 75 watt natural light bulb at the 12 o'clock position, and a square flat white light, at 6 o'colck.
4. I also turn on the lght in the room, seems to help.
5. Camera is a Fuji FinePix 2650, 2.0 Mp, 3x optical zoom. (Upgrading soon)

Yeah, I picked up a TV at a pawn shop to use instead of the little view screen thing on the camera

But until I decide to make the big jump I am hoplessly, decadantly, primative! But a good SLR digital can be very forgiving of primative under the right circumstances (yes these are very amature photos).

None taken Morgans...! I laugh at myself every time I take a pic.
I'm thinking the tri-pod will provide the greatest image improvement. Next would be getting rid of the dual 15w fluorescant lamp in favoer of an Ott light bulb or some other high intensity light equivalent. Finally, switching to a gray paper background from the folded-up white bounty towel (dual adult beverage coaster :Funny
But all kidding aside, this is My current setup. It's why I'm following M.Goodman, D.Miklitsch and others (including those who post to this thread!). No sense in upgrading from the current primiative setup until I know what I want to commit to. Besides, I do think I have a decent camera: Fujifilm S5000 FinePix!

I didn't. My wife picked it up at work. She works for a non-profit org. and some fellow donated the "Arkansas nickel". She brought it home and I instantly took to it. I've posted it on these boards a time or two and some folks have theorized that it was a demo for some Big A$$ stapler manufacturer. I happen to think that this is the best explanation. What better way to demo the Big-A$$ stapler of the year award winner by stapling 5 copper cents together?
I can attest that these buggers are real. The image doesn't lie. And what's really intersting is the fact that there is no "give" when handling this piece. the coins are very much soundly, solidly stapled together with no give whatsoever!
I wonder if there are any other similar examples out there?
Thanks,
DC
