I don't know, but I was not real happy with the guy who just decided to volunteer that information.

I do not collect pennies, but I was wondering why this variety is called 1 in neck instead 1 in throat.
<< <i>Is there that large of a premium in all grades? Thanks in advance for the info. The flipper made a few $$.

The premium is fairly decent in all grades, but more so in higher grades. The coin appears to be AU-53 to 55 range. The normal 1897 in that grade is about a 20 dollar coin. I personally think the second auction was overbid by about 100 bucks and that's why I didn't bid.

I'm going to guess this 3-feedback ebayer is the wife/girlfriend of an experienced collector or dealer who didn't want to be identified.
Ahhh, those were the days...
