Buffalo Fever !!help!!

After years of collecting, recently within the last 3 years Peace Dollar Vams,I never once thought about Buffalo nickles as an interest. Sure i had a few that i picked up over the years in circulated condition and no dates. That all changed when i acquired a collection of about 50 Buffalo's in what i think are in pristine condition. All common dates, but in this condition very beautiful.Made a mistake and joined the forum and read and saw all the threads and how passionate you Buffalo collectors are.I'm hooked,Which brings me to the reason for posting this thread. What are the best collector books on Buffalo's and where can i obtain them? Thanks

Yep, the Lang is a great book. If you can get a great deal on first ed. don't spend the money on the 2nd edition. Not much changed really of substance, beyond pricing, which was out of date by the time the book released.

And of course get a cherry pickers guide!

To say we're passionate is putting it lightly.

FYI: Lange is in the 3rd edition. I don't know how much different it is over the second edition, but it is the standard. Some other books that are available include Treasure Hunting Buffalo Nickels and Buffalo Nickels: The Abraded Die Varieties by Ron Pope. Ron is a board member and only sells the book privately. He also sells the book on eBay.

David Lange's book is great and one that I refer to often. I recently bought QDB's "A Guide Book of Buffalo and Jefferson Nickels". It's a great read and provides interesting history and individual coin commentary. Prior to these publications (way prior!) I subscribed to a newsletter called the Buffalo Nickel Report. Here's a couple of pages from one of their issues. Note the date.
