Been reading this forum for a long time now, WOW beautiful coins!
I'm going to try PCGS Grading for the first time, im a little concerned about the BB (Body Bag) im no expert but think my
coins are all uncleaned, Fingers crossed I collect SLQ very hard to grade, every year was struck different ,

I will try to post some pics when i get them all done if i can figure it all out, Also would anyone know if I Send Mint issued coins
like the 2001 Buffalo, in its holder for submission or do i have to crack all them out. thanks for your help,
and ill try to post pics of my Standing Liberty Quarters image

Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free image

Welcome! I do not believe you have to crack open the mint sealed coins, but i'll let someone who knows for sure post.

For your first raw classic submission you might want to (a) post photos here first to get opinions on whether the coin will be BBed, (b) talk to a PCGS dealer to get opinions on whether your coins will get BBed, or (c) send to ICG if you are going to send in a lot of coins. People have been unpleasantly surprised when their first submission results in a lot of BBs which be hard on the wallet . Showing pics here or to a PCGS dealer and/or using ICG will minimize the damage from BBs before you know what to look for yourself. Lots of people have been unpleasantly surprised by their first PCGS submission.

    Welcome Pasco, I'm Joe.

When submitting mint state coins, it's better to remove them from their plastic capsule. PCGS will do this for you but you usually will not get mint boxes or paperwork back so it's best to just pack them like all coins you send for submittal (First Strike and First Day Issue is another story). Carefully remove them from the plastic capsule, put them into the 2x2 mylar flip that PCGS provides. You can also call customer service to order the supplies or get the questions answered through them.

Most of the specifics are in the packet you receive from PCGS after joining. You can PM me with questions and I can also discuss this via telephone if need be. Although, customer service will do this "with a smile".... I assure you.

Have a great time here. It's a great hideaway on the boards for me.

Don't be too afraid of BBs. They are part of the experience. I've certainly had my share. Actually they are little bubble-wrap bags with a sticky tab. All part of the educational experience, you know!
