I have a old coin, just wondering if its worth something.

My grandma has a uncirculated silver dollar from 1887. I was just wondering if it is worth something, if so, around how much?

    At the very minimum $10 dollars,but you really are going to have to give us much more information than what you have given thus far.

    Do you have a picture?

    Welcome.

    What makes you believe that the coin is "uncirculated"?

    Here is the back of an 1887 dollar. See the "S" above the DO in DOLLAR? Is there a letter on yours? Might be an "O" or an "S".

    mm is mintmark. It's where the coin was made. O is New Orleans, S is San Francisco. No letter is Philadelphia.

    Allow me to restate a good point, DO NOT CLEAN IT, photograph it as is. Do not touch the obverse or reverse of the coin, hold it only from the edge.

    As mentioned it is one oz of silver so at minimum it is worth spot on silver, show us pics of the front and back (As close as you can get them) and the masses will respond.

    mm = mint mark

    CC=Carson City
    D=Denver
    S=SanFrancisco

    etc...

    pick up a red book it will tell you a lot including locations of mint marks, mint totals, possible varieties etc. etc.
