CONTINENTAL CURENCY 1776 on eBay

What's up with this coin? Is it authentic? Why is it blue? Is it the lighting or a filter?
It would be a great find if it's the real deal...

It's a cast reproduction. I got one as a gift when I was a kid -- looks just like it.

Almost laughable. It's a cast fake. If his description is truthful, I can't believe so many people actually told him it was real. I have to agree with that "rude" dealer.

It is this sentiment that keeps Ebay populated with crappy copies all in search of one trigger happy bidder looking for a rip.

At least it has a few hundred words of utter crap to go along with it.

  • Just for fun why don't 2 of us bid it up to $30,000, and then in a few days retract our bids?

    OK, I'm only kidding!

Just for the record, this is in my area of the country, but the coin was not shown to me, and, believe it or not, I do know about a certification process! image

  • First off, it's a fake.

Second something that is to good to be true usually is.

Third if the story is true, he has already indicated that they sell for $30k+ on ebay, but out of the kindness of his heart he is willing to sell it for $200. Hmmm........Doubt it. 15 minutes of his time and about $50 in grading fees and he could have a winner, but no, he will take the $200 and run, but let someone else have the profits. Nice guy image

I especially like how the antique dealer talks about the "CASTING" image

I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LOCAL ANTIQUE DEALER IN HERSHEY PA AND AFTER HE LOOKED AT IT HE SAID HE BELIEVED IT TO BE REAL DUE TO THE SIGNS OF WEAR AND OLD STYLE OF CASTING THAT IT SHOWED....
