eBay Situation for Y'all... Repeat International Buyer NARU'd

airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,726 ✭✭✭✭✭
If any of you have been following the world board at all, you might have seen that I recently sold three large batches of world pieces. When I sell world coins, I ship internationally, since that's where a lot of the market is. I've never had a problem doing this.

Now, one buyer has won multiple lots in all three rounds of auctions. The first were paid for quickly and the transaction a quick success. The second lot took my sending of a second invoice and an email, but I received payment via PayPal, as he paid before. Those coins were just packaged up and slated to ship today. In filling orders for round 3, I noticed that he is now listed as NARU, but maintains 100% positive feedback. He won 17 auctions in the last round, but hasn't paid yet (they ended Sunday).

So, I'm left wondering what I should do. The PayPal money for the second round is on its way to my bank account, but the buyer's now NARU (not when he paid). Should I ship or wait for an explanation of why he was given the boot? If the third round of auctions gets paid for, should I ship? If nothing else, I really don't want to relist 17 items.

Anyway, I'm hoping for the best-case scenario that it's a stupid problem and he's back soon. If it's useful info, he's been on a buying spree since he joined a few months ago, but as I said, he has only positives... unless there are NPB's that didn't get him negs, as well.

If you have any advice to share, please do.

Thanks,

Jeremy

if you got paid and can't have funds sucked from your paypal or bank accounts, by all means you should ship.

But is there any way PayPal can bite me on this? Do I lose any protection if the buyer was NARU'd after paying? Similarly, what if the buyer pays for the remaining items... if the payment clears, do I ship?

A similar transaction happened to me .. NARU'd, but $ received & cleared my PayPal account. Let your conscience be your guide .. I mailed mine. I believe when buyers are NARU'd for no apparent reason, it may be PayPal related..i/e Over Limit on their credit card, but the sale was under the "floor limit" & subsequently declined. Not enough funds in their checking account to clear the transaction. Keep in mind, it takes PayPal about 2 to 3 days to receive funds out of a checking account.

has the buyer contacted you since he was NARU ? If he can complete the transactions and send you money for the rest, then you can finish the deal. I would imagine that for the deals completed you should ship out the coins, but I would verify with him and wait for a reply first.

He hasn't... I just noticed and sent him an email. That said, there are two current pending transactions... one ready to ship, and one to be paid for. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I'm going to ship what's ready to go out.

I agree with this. How much $$$ are we talking about anyway?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Could have been a hijacked account, you could lose all that he has paid for through PayPal.

This one under $500... the one unpaid for, $1400 or so.

That wouldn't make sense for past transactions working fine... the items were the same, and so is the payer/shipping address.

    Jeremy:

I think the guy deserves time to reply, contact you, or otherwise give you some reassurance that all is as it should be. He's also entitled to receive the coins he has paid for that has cleared your PayPal account. (I would, however, sweep all funds from my account first.) A few days delay in shipping the next batch seems not unreasonable here.
    When in doubt, don't.

The transaction is between yourself and him. Remember that eBay is "only a venue." If he pays you and it is done in such a manner that you can't get stung (by a chargeback or the like) then you should complete the transaction.

A Western Union Money Transfer might be something for you to insist on.

    Just be careful.

I doubt if you are ever going to get paid for the unpaid auctions. I would file an unpaid item with eBay & since the buyer is NARU'd they will immediately refund the listing fees. At which time you can relist your items. YOu are under no obligations to finalize the unpaid auctions with this buyer & since PayPal is no longer a payment options, what method of payment would you accept? Neither you, nor the buyer are covered by any protection from eBay or PayPal.

I meant to say: eBay would immediately refund the FVF fees, listing fees would be refunded if item(s) are relisted & sell.image

Be afraid. NARU is like being in Witness Protection--you've disappeared into thin air. If there are any subsequent difficulties, you'll be dealing with a cipher. Of course, a cipher can't raid your funds...

Why not e-mail Paypal? That way, you'll have an official e-mail response from somebody there to throw back at them when you go to them for recourse.

Unless your buyer is in the US, UK or Canada, there is no seller protection through PayPal. If the buyer is in France, you're on your own.

I have had many transactions complete satisfactorily after they were no longer a reigistered user (I assume that is what you mean by naru). Often it is only a temporary suspension for fee avoidance, etc. I would email the buyer first to make sure he is still going to complete the transaction. If he does not resond, simply click the non paymaent putton. Ebay refunds the final added fee immediately on NARU"S.

Point well made....this is an excerpt from PayPal seller protection policy....(This is one of the reasons why I only sell to US buyers)

11.3 Qualification Requirements. In order to qualify for coverage under the Seller Protection Policy, you must meet the following requirements:

"You must have a Verified Business or Verified Premier Account at the time of the transaction,
The transaction must be between a US, UK or Canadian buyer and a US, UK or Canadian seller."

Yes. Say you sweep all the funds out of your account and then he does a chargeback. You don't have the funds in your account so he doesn't get them, but they may put a freeze on your account. Now I believe you do a fair amount of business on eBay. With your account frozen it will still accept payments from your buyers, but you will not be able to take those funds out. You may not be able to access your account again until you pay off the chargeback.
