Not your average Walking Liberty.
This coin is one of the highlights of my collection. I bought it 3-4 years ago. It is graded NGC PR66CAMEO.
There were roughly 75,000 proof Walkers minted, of those roughly 36,000 have been graded (and regraded ) between NGC and PCGS. Until a couple months ago, for several years there had only been 10 Walker cameos graded in total between both NGC/PCGS. Within the last several months NGC has gone from having one 1942 CAMEO to three (2 pr66 and 1 pr67), so I suspect someone has been playing the crackout game. Even assuming both of the newly graded 1942 coins are actually "brand new" coins that still leaves only 12 cameo Walkers in total between NGC/PCGS.
The mirrors on this coin are great. I literally can hold the coin at arms length and still see my face in the mirrors. The devices are a nice heavy cameo. The haze you may see in one image, and what may look like frost fade on some of the devices and lettering, do not exist. They are artifacts of image lighting. The scratch below the sun is on the slab. Bruce Lee took the images, and, IMO, did an excellent job.

<< <i>Wow. The sun even has a bit of frost. >>
Actually the sun has a fair amount of frost, that is why I included the first image, because it shows the sun/mountains on the obverse and the rock on the reverse are fully frosted. Depending on the angle the coin was tilted for imaging you lose some of the contrast. This coin is frosty all over.
The first time I saw this coin it almost looked fake to me... visually it is SO different from the standard WL proof. Once you get used to it though, there is NO going back. If anyone is going to the Santa Clara show in April I could bring it there.

I've seen two WL cameos in person in my life and pics of a couple more. None of them, I repeat NONE had any frost on the sun. Until I'm proven wrong, you just may have the nicest Proof WL out there.

<< <i>One of the highlights? I'd sure like to see some of the rest! It's very addictive - I keep coming back to look it over!! Simply beautiful. >>
Thanks jmski52! At some point there was a box of 20 post with images in it and I put some of my top coins in there. Since we've got a cameo in this post, I'll throw in one of my favorite toners. It is graded PCGS MS63 in an old rattler and it would comfortably grade 64 today. EDITED TO ADD: The scratch over the 50 on the reverse is on the slab.

Dave you nailed it. I did balcken the last image, but in real life the coin really looks like that. This coin is everything the pictures say and more! I would urge anybody who can make it out the Santa Clara show to do so. The 3rd image is a bit of art, but the coin really does have that black and white look to it. Getting the right photos of the coin were very tricky. Cameo Proofs can be a real knockout when it comes to photing the coins. The much talked about Sun had frost on it in hand. I cannot say enough about this coin other than it is utterly jaw dropping. NO Photo can do this coin complete justice. I could sit here all day and talk about this coin, but I will let these images do the talking. This is truly the finest walker I have ever laid eyes on. Online or in real life. The first 2 sets of images are not photoshoped. Those are how they came out in the camera. Enjoy and thanks for the nice comments.
<< <i>You know...when I see coins like that, it makes me just wonder: Why do I even bother? That's a sweet, sweet coin. >>
