I had the sweetest coin dream last night...

MadMartyMadMarty Posts: 16,697 ✭✭✭
I had a dream that I won the gazillion dollar mega-megabuck lottery... I spent the next 5 years hitting every major coin aution waiting to see what the great one was bidding on. Then I sat there with my paddle held up in the air! I know, it's a silly dream but from I have heard from other collectors it's a very common one!!imageimage
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Did you win the coin in the dream, then drill a hole in it and use it for your rubber chicken's "bling" necklace?

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

I don't know, Marty. Maybe it takes a very special person to hold a paddle in the air spending someone else's money.

Actually, the real talent seems to be in finding that other person, or mark as we can them in The Real World™, who not only wants to be a mark but is easily convinced that you have provided a valuable service that they could not have done themselves. Someone with Paddle Elbow, who can't raise it on their own.

It's the pressure! Normal collectors can't handle the pressure! It takes a true pro to do that!

Give me somebody else's checkbook, I can handle the pressure all day long.

I've read of a few CEOs who tried, failed and went home rich at the end of the day using this precise methodology. There are truly some great sales people out there, huh ?
Who was it that said " I had a dream ? " ...oh yeah... it was Marty image

I had a very vivid, very timely coin dream last night. It involves a coin that I am waiting to hear about from my dealer.

In the dream, he called me on the phone and told me that I should buy it. I started telling him about the coins that I plan to sell so that I could indeed buy it. (Here's where it becomes unrealistic) The next moment, the dealer is in the dining room of the house I lived in until I was seven years old, and we are reviewing the coins to trade/sell. The coins were indeed the actual coins I am planning to sell/trade if this "big coin" comes through, they looked like my actual coins, and the pricing information, in the dream, was accurate, as well. It was kinda spooky.
