I just finished an absolutely flawless consignment with Russ. I shipped him a dozen or so coins, and he kept me informed of the status every step of the way. A quick check with full supporting details.

Definitely one of the good guys.

Although I have never done any business with Russ I have been an avid fan of this forum.
IMO, he pokes fun at, {name not mentioned}, and he/she returns in kind.
Both, from everything I know, do business the way it should be done.

Russ, pardon my ignorance…I’m still learning my way around here. Could you please explain the reason someone would use your eBay consignment service instead of just listing the items themselves on eBay? Obviously there has to be “value added” by using your service, I’m just too new to know what it is.

Russ helped get a coin for me from Heritage while I was away on vacation. Deals done now and I'm super happy and thankful for the help. Like him or not; there's no doubting he's one of the good guys.

I have thought of asking Russ to help sell some of my duplicates, and would find value-added simply because I have a lot of things on my plate at the moment, selling on ebay can be a headache, and does require some expertise to do well. For me, the value added would be in saving of time and aggravation.

I sell on ebay and also used Russ before (for selling coins

Reason was I was busy and didn't want the headache especially at the level (~$4000) that the items would end up.
He gets a lot of people looking at his auctions and he does all the work (imaging, selling, shipping, dealing with any whacko nutjob on ebay that wins the item (mine was cake for him though

), and cuts a quick check, as mentioned).

I liken it to having someone mow your yard for you. Most people can do it but some people still hire others to do it (not wanting the hassle, etc).

Russ is signed off, but I will give you the reasons that I consign to Russ, rather than sell most things myself. He takes amazing photographs (much better than mine), has an excellent ebay reputation and following (much better than mine), and handles all the little details seemlessly. If you have a lot of time, can take comparable photos, do not mind making multiple trips to the PO, have a loyal ebay following, etc., you might be better off on your own.

hey floridabill,
russ has "earned" one class reputation on ebay as well as here.you ought to see his ebay auctions "they're class" and many buyers have him on favorite sellers list to say the least as alot of top stuff is always offered.
i have no doubt that the final hammer price he consistently pulls in makes consigning with him well worth it.
enough huh blah-blah-blah but he's got my respect

Some people don't want to spend the time to get a good photo, deal with weird and not so weird questions, collect money (OK, everybody likes to collect money), pack up coins, ship them, account for everything and keep smiling while doing it. Since time is money that is worth something. Another thing is security. If you don't have a secure office or PO box you could be asking for trouble by making your home address public. Another thing is it takes a while to build up a good reputation and following. Russ has both so many people would bid more for the same coin if he was offering it rather than a newbie with less than a few hundred feedback. That is worth something. If I wasn't in the business myself I would send my coins to Russ.
