I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.

when i'm buying mint states, i always feel the edge.
one would say i like reeded coins, but edge lettering is very kewl. most folks, when i show them edge lettered, get interested, the i tell the story of why, which gets them more interested.

On this US modern stuff, I think the mint should forget about edge lettering altogether. Put everything on the obverse or reverse, same as was done with prior designs. Once the coin is encapsulated, the edge is unavailable for viewing anyway.

I would like to see the older "One Dollar or One Hundred Cents" or maybe "George Washington, 1st President" or something different there.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I've looked at a few of them with lettering in one orientation or the other and am not impressed.
The only thing I can say is they sure were beat up for being UNC.
I've already spent them and won't bother getting any more.
The Presidential Dollar Coin is no big deal.
