........against the edge lettering on our new prez coins? do you think this edge printing style will be carried on in future coin designs of other denominations?

I'm neutral about it. However, I don't think the mint should use it on other denominations until they get their act straight.

I never liked edge lettering. They should surely find a little room on the obv. or rev. for all that.

I like edge lettering for the mottos since it frees up space for the design on the coin but I don't like the date and mintmark on the edge.

sometimes when you get a mint state, you can feel how sharp the strike is by feeling the ridges on the reeds. serious. a nice superior strike coin will almost cut your finger tips because the of the ridges. try it on a proof.

when i'm buying mint states, i always feel the edge.

one would say i like reeded coins, but edge lettering is very kewl. most folks, when i show them edge lettered, get interested, the i tell the story of why, which gets them more interested.

I really like edge lettering but I prefer the date to be on the obverse of the coin.

If George didn't have such a stink face I think I would like it. It doesn't add anything to an unattractive coin otherwise.

I like it... but I do wish they would do a more professional job of it... The way it is almost looks like an afterthought. Cheers, RickO

Edge lettering on Bust Halves can sometimes be very interesting, what with all the errors made.

On this US modern stuff, I think the mint should forget about edge lettering altogether. Put everything on the obverse or reverse, same as was done with prior designs. Once the coin is encapsulated, the edge is unavailable for viewing anyway.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

I happen to like it, but its just not as good as old school edge lettering...perfect examples being bust halfs.

I like lettered edges on bust halves, but not for the prexybucks- I think it's just another gigantic opportunity for scammers and sleazers to cheat the ignorant public and give numismatics a bad name along the way...

I like the edge lettering, I don't like having the date/MM/IGWT on it.
I would like to see the older "One Dollar or One Hundred Cents" or maybe "George Washington, 1st President" or something different there.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I think they should have put the portrait of Washington on the edge image

I could not care less without being dead.

I've looked at a few of them with lettering in one orientation or the other and am not impressed.

The only thing I can say is they sure were beat up for being UNC.

I've already spent them and won't bother getting any more.

The Presidential Dollar Coin is no big deal.
