Middle date large cents by die variety. I have a date set and I've done the varieties for 1817, 1820, 1823, and 1829, but I don't want to get seriously into them at this time. Although there are only 5 pieces that would give me serious problems. And only two of them are impossible.
Obviously Brascher Gold---but realistically I'm still thinking about it, I love early half dollars but was astonished at how many (percent) were badly cleared and hairlined in a "GOOD COLLECTION"--the Byer Sale just completed. It thought maybe he was just looking for certain die states---then went though a bunch of other catalugues---situation FUBAR!!! No hope--they're mostly a mess.
So right now i'm jusy picking up the odd type coin if I love it--- and bidding non-porous low-grade older copper of all things.
There are 3 coins I really want, and maybe one day (I can just barely afford ONE, but they're not for sale)
Every weekend, when the copper guys post their "copper for the weekend" thread, I fall in love with them, large cents, small cents, IH cents, colonials, etc....Gotta love them

Ancients...I have a good friend who is not only a collector/dealer in these...he is also well versed in the history attached to these coins...I am fascinated every time I look at his coins and hear him talk about their history...so many coins with SO MANY STORIES !! I wouldn't really know where to begin and there are so many US coins I have yet to enjoy...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free

I mainly have commemoratives though.
