Also do the non Seated guys see the difference between weak strike and wear?

I ask this because I am not sure the "ebay" buyer does.

Seems reasonable to me as a strong VF piece. Shield detail is quite strong and what might be expected on an XF/AU piece. VF30 to 35.

These early "O" mints do pose quite a challenge to grade. That last 43-0 threw me as well. I'm probably too low on this one as well.

    I would go with EF-40.

VF25. I have had a lot of New Orleans seated varieties in the VF range. I don't think it is approaching XF.

30 perhaps 35. The strikes for this date are very inconsistent

I feel the coin is an XF40 but maybe because it looks better in hand. I look at the pictures and they look VF 35+

Not XF. Would call it "Choice VF" and leave the numerical finegaling to others.

VF-30 or perhaps 35, a nice coin for the grade. If it is a weakly struck XF that looks VF-30, then its technical grade could be 40, but it is still worth the VF-30 price to me.

    VF-30.

There is ample wear to account for the grade. The comment "weak strike" does not apply here.

Quick look at it, 30-40, average 35 in my eyes.
I am not a SD expert though, just a casual person with these.

Is there any circulated seated dime that does not suffer from a weak strike in your eyes ? The coin is VF period !

    I'd say VF-30.
  • For what it's worth...IMO Obv is 25-30 and Rev is 30-35 ... net VF30

Did I sell that one to you? If so, XF40 image

Do you have any idea about the strike differences in early New Orleans mints? If not you should not make comments that show you don't

It looks like absolutely no one here agrees with your XF grade. Why is that so ? Wear is wear seated person.

Do you know anything about 45P Merc Dimes and thick planchets ? Thought not !!
