So, I submit an Accented Hair expecting DCAM, get Cameo and figure PCGS shafted me, but...

I got the coin back from PCGS today. Comparing it to my PR68DCAM, I can see their argument for only cameo. Mirrors on both are as deep as it gets, but the devices on the PR68DCAM are ever so slightly whiter than this one. But, damn, it is maddeningly close! It may yet go DCAM some day.

In any event, it's the strongest PR68CAM I've ever seen, and 11 of the 51 graded have come from my submissions.

This is the coin:

No one knows for sure, that's the beauty or it.

I've heard estimates as high as 10% but I tend to think that's way too high. My guess is more like 4-5%.

Russ is the expert there. I only have a half dozen or so of them, proud to say I made them all myself(with the help of Russ, even though he doesn't know it image).

  • Geez, looks DCAM to me. Not that I'm an expert in Kennedy halves, but I know a thing or two about DCAM's.

Nice either way, hopefully it will be a welcome addition to a real collector type set or Kennedy set.

The experts claim 1% to 3%. My own opinion, though, is that it's closer to 5%. There were approximately 50 working dies produced for ODV-001, and they were producing about 4000 proofs per die at the time.

The grade PCGS assigned is worth $900 to $1000.

From the pic, IMO the obverse is definitely DCAM and the reverse is what is holding it back from being slabbed as a DCAM. JMHO.
