Speculation, Presidents proof sets

What does everyone think the proof sets will do given the parallels between the 1999 silver quarters proof sets which now go in the low $300's and the first year of the Presidents proof sets. Are any of you going to purchase a few extras on speculation? Let's assume the circulating dollar flops like SBA.

the dealer i work for is speculating the same thing, that these sets really take off. i disagree with him, i think they may go up in price a little, but not nearly as much as the 1999. in 1999 you could only order 2 sets if i'm not mistaken, and this caused not as many to get in the market as people wanted, so the price went up. i think too many people are expecting that to happen this year for it to actually happen on a large scale.

The 1999 silver proof set bubble was mostly caused by an ill-advised Mint distribution mechanism. Unless that's repeated here I don't expect to see massive speculation on this set, particularly since it doesn't look like there will be low production limits or a very short offering window.

These will no way come close to matching the '99 silver proof sets, c'mon. They will experience mediocre interest and appreciation. I'll get one...

My guess is that these will sell for about issue price for many years. The speculators are filled to the brim with money from all their profits of recent issues. Tossing a few back will be common and that usually means the item will never go up much in value.
