I'm not in the market for plastic but I am curious. How much of a premium does this slab bring for an inexpensive coin?

The Cinncinnati is the auction goes for $620 in MS65. Currently the auction is at $650. Now assuming the coin is undergraded, at 66 the coin goes for $1050. (personally, I think it is a very ugly coin)
But to answer your question, I have seen common Morgans go for about $700 over book, which I would assume is just for the holder.
Is paying for the holder like paying for toning? Or is it just collector preference? It is OK to collect plastic... and toned coins... and beanie babies, and circus tickets.... Have fun.. Cheers, RickO
I can understand paying for a NGC holder, a lot more than I can understand paying $400 over for a toned common coin. There just aren't that many black holders around and that numbers gets shorter as they get cracked.
However, I wouldn't overpay tremendously for a black holder containing a common coin. Same way I wouldn't tremendously overpay for a common coin that is toned; no matter how nice the toning.

They got that part of the description wrong. The coin is inserted into the holder properly. They have the second picture upside down though. On that slab the logo side is the front, not the label side.
Current bid is $1,100 + 15%. Someone must think they can get an upgrade or they really want that first generation black NGC slab.
