I hope you all used credit cards. What bothered me about this auction was he's selling 2007 eagles and if he purchase them he paid at least $15 dollars a coin so he knew the value. If these had been lets say 2002's then he may not have known the market value if he hadn't kept up with silver prices. One thing for sure he's about 10 grand richer and if it's a scam you will be hearing about him being arrested on the news because Ebay/PayPal will go after him for that kind of money. Good Luck to all.......
<< <i>The gambling debt hypothesis was a good one. I've dealt with degenerate gamblers before--they'd sell their mother for a $2 bill if they thought it would "get them out of a jam". On the other side of that token, gamblers are familiar with pawn shops and know the spot price of silver, and would easily find 100 ways better to liquidate silver eagles than eBay @ $9 a pop. The cologne, the "quick millions sports betting guide", the hotrod car parts--it just screams teenager. 683 silver eagles screams father of teenager. This auction screams trouble for several parties! >>
Anyone who buys these severely underpriced items from a low volume seller with 94% feedback severely needs to have their head examined. If there isn't a Santa Claus in Numismatics, it's a sure bet there isn't a Santa Claus selling on Ebay either.

That's exactly the message I got the time I was dumb enough to try and buy ~$350 DVD set for $99. Thank goodness I got all my money back by cancelling my PayPal transaction; in that case, the seller's account had been hijacked. If it was me, I'd try my best to cancel the transaction if I'd bought one of those eagles. If not, pray you bought it with a credit card.
This guy is no longer registered on ebay, I almost bought a bunch, but couldn't get my head around why anyone would sell them like that, plus he was purchasing car parts like crazy....

<< <i>Anyone know anyone who bought from this guy? >>
I just got an email from my brother. I had sent him the link and told him not to buy but he couldn't stand it.
He said, someone stole his ID and eBay and paypal had sent emails to everyone involved. He said he checked his paypal account and the refund is pending. He said that usually takes 5-7 days.
I see that same guy has ingots and silver eagles now.
What to do....hmmmmm...$14 per eagle is not bad at all.

Notice there's no PayPal or CC to save you this time. Go ahead if you haven't learned, stole his ID and then starts selling them again....Right!

I thought about notifying eBay that he is selling these things again. Don't know if it is legit or not but I would bet it isn't.
I just found out it was a girl that compromised his Paypal account. Her name is Rachel Ubben. Don't know who she is but that is what my brother told me.
Yes after pondering over it for about 20 minutes like a fool I bid on 5. Ebay sent me a email stating his account was taken over or used by a 3rd party and is closed until further investigation. I opened up a paypal dispute for the 46.00. I told myself if it is to good to be true then.....But no I had to give it a shot. I see so many others getting good deals I thought why not. Well I learned the Why's but now know the NOT's
Most likely, anyone who bought from him has just lost their money unless they used a credit card. If you used paypal...you won't get it back unless you reported it as an unauthorized transaction. If you just report it as a scammer...you won't get your money back from paypal because they will just say they couldn't recover it.

You can get good deals. A good deal on a silver eagle is $14, instead of the $16 you see most people paying. $9 is not a good deal, because it's a scam for someone. Either the seller is being scammed (losing money) or you are (because he's not really selling).
The email exchanges I had with this guy suggest that the sister story is bogus and he knew what he was doing. His ebay account wasn't hijacked either because I was contacting him through the ebay message system. Oh well.

They are probably thinking, "When is Santa Claus going to come down the chimney and deliver the coins?"
