Well, I'm going to the range on Friday (Coins that I am bringing are now enclosed)

hole in image

I'm open to suggestions, I like how the copper cent splashes.. But I want to see what you all think.

The chosen coins...

Now there is another but I'm trying to get clearance from the generous forum member that cave it to me if it's cool that I destroy one of his gifts.

You need to bring a copper coin, a silver coin, a brass coin, an aluminum token and then show us how the different "splash" patterns look.,

Since you like how copper splashes, how about a 1943 copper cent? image

ummmm, maybe I should have been more clear... The coins should probably be something I would either have on hand or could afford to destroy...

Damn, wish I had an ACG slab in the house image

I wonder if I could cook one through without destroying the slab.

If you load your own.. possibly with a really hot load... be careful though, strange things can happen. But I agree, if you could hole a slab, through the coin, without exploding the slab.. would be very cool.. Cheers, RickO

BTW I'm going to have limited opportunity to do this, so the plywood idea (Though a good one) probably will not happen. I'll see what I can do, I plan on getting some pictures too image Bottom line is I may not get the opportunity at all.

But I'm sure gonna try image

I will be firing the M-4, with 5.56mm I have a 68 mounted but I think I shoot better with the iron sites (At least I did before the deployment) I might try with the 68 to see how accurate I can get.

Did you need a detector to find the quarter?

Maybe I'll try shooting a clad Kennedy half with 7.62x39 steel core from my SKS. That should have a clean hole.

I thought the Lapua [pronounced lap-wah] was a bullet; specifically one that was oversize like a .309 instead for the .30 caliber. They were introduced by Speer and I believe they had a unique boattail design as well.

I took a stack of nickels and shot them with a 357 mag, it creates great impressions on the coins in the stack.
