Gold people...heres one thats not been asked ...(I think)
say you have a light scratch on a piece ...and for arguments sake, its mint state.
could the scratch be effectivly "filled" using 24 carat gold leaf.
ever heard of anyone doing this?
could it be done?
just curious, and asking...( don't beat up on me......I own zero gold)

I'm wondering mozeppa, what has you raising the question?
<< <i>what would you do...super glue it?
no s.g.
gold leaf is applied by rubbing it into the scratch.
look i just wondered if anyones tried it ...was/was not sucessful.
I was watching the t.v. (one of those education channels) ...a while back, so i'm not with great detail.
there was an asian culture that has a statue of buda or maybe a indian cultures statue ....anyway they say their prayers to it.
and to assure that their prayers would be acted upon, they buy 24 K gold leaf ..press it to the statue and rub the gold onto the statue.
(kinda like a donation to the god.)
the commentator made the statement that this had gone on so long that the gold on the statues facial features has been built up quite thick.
while some of you guys might think this was a silly question...i thought it would be good to ask here whether anyone had tried it.
as i said...i don't own gold and i just didn't know.
edited for spelling

For such a small area you would be using powdered gold leaf anyway, and then you've openned a whole new question. Could colloidal gold be settled into a scratch?
HAH!.....i knew this was a good question!
