I have found a unique method to clean a fingerprint from the proof, mirror section of a silver coin. I am specific because I just (Doh)accidentally did it to a proof silver British coin. The conditions are this.. the coin airtite came open and I did not notice it.. picked it up and realized I had just touched the surface. Panic - a fingerprint clearly delineated. I first tried hot water - no luck. Poured alcohol (medical) over it.. no help. Frustration. Then, thinking of oil removal, thought of shampoo. Poured Neutrogena T-gel directly on the surface. Let it sit for 35 minutes. Washed with hot, running water... PRINT GONE!!! Just wanted to share this. I think the reason it worked so well was that I did it almost immediately, before the surfaces etched. Just a tip to share.... Cheers, RickO

Most detergents are equally good when it comes to cutting grease. They all use pretty much the same ingredients.
