AT but in all honesty, some of the nicest AT I've seen. A subtle, understated palate of hues. None of the garishness I've become accustomed to.....image

    << <i>Album toning. NT >>

Thanks for the response ttown, I wish more would state there thoughts...

If these are album toned, where did the textile pattern come from...?

So far it's been 50/50 on the voting, I think they scream AT...

Please tell me why you think I'm wrong...

    Some really attractive looking
    pictures.

    But, I say definite AT.

But, if you really like the coins,
does it matter if it is AT or NT?

    Regards, Steve.

The uniformity, and consistancy between all the examples clearly declares AT... Cheers, RickO

I voted AT because I`ve never seen that kind of toning on some of the commems, mainly the Vancouver, Bay Bridge and the Maine. Would be surprized if they`re real. But, of course, pictures could be deceiving!

    Textile patterns??

I see a LOT of commemoratives in this thread that are just covered in fingerprints.
AT/NT I'm not sure of, I wonder if the prints have something to do with it?

I don't like the Barbar Quarters at all.

I initially thought that many of the Comms looked like they had toned over a long period of time, perhaps in an Album or sitting in a cloth lined tray, BUT after looking at the Dealers other ebay coins, there are Morgan Dollars with the same odd pseudo-textile type toning and that would indicatethat the toning source is the same for coins that should look different. Also, virtually every coin is raw, so there's probably lots of AUs being passed off as Uncs and there is likely more AT than NT coins being sold off. JMHO based on what I see on my computer screen

Nowadays I think most toning has been helped a bit. I mean, that somebody made a conscious decision to cause a coin to look different than it did when he got it. These are likely coins that such a person had for a while.

The main question about the seller here on this site is AT or NT. Has anyone even looked at the grades that were put on the coins ? When viewing his items the other day many coins were way over graded. Which is more serious, bad color or obvious over grading ?

Put another option in your poll. A plain who cares would work.

I thought the first six looked NT- but starting with the isabella quarter, all of the remaining coins look cooked to me. It's that fake looking splotchy blue that doesn't look right to me....

"But, if you really like the coins, does it matter if it is AT or NT?"

To me it would matter greatly, the Panama-Pacific sold for over $1000 and the last Barber Quarter sold for over $600. If I purchased a Van Gogh and found out it was a Van Stop I would be deeply disappointed even though I really liked the painting...

    "Textile patterns??"

Some of them do look like finger prints but if you look closely most have a textile pattern that matches the background cloth exactly...

I have twice as many photos then I have posted here, they all look the same...

The seller has been very discreet and only listing a few AT coins at a time with his other listings, till last week were he listed all the commums posted here stating they came from a Whitman Album he recently purchased...

Here is some of his current listings, 6 or 7 AT's out of 77 auctions...

There's no doubt the guy is getting better, the reason for this thread...

All I can say is thats was some Whitman..."-)

AT all the way IMO, and in a way that adds microporosity to the coins, at least on my monitor.

I do not think it`s textile ; i think it`s fingerprints from being repeatedly pressed into and pushed out of ,the album .
Not all the coins are unc , so I think a Dr wouldnt bother with the AU stuff and for that reason I vote NT.

The first pieces, lightly gold toned, appeared NT at first. The blue in the Isabella got me very suspicious, as it's too neon. The Pan Pac is what decided it for me, as it just looks terribly AT, with the blue/purple combo. The barber quarters look awful, and so do the coins in the next set you posted. I'd venture a guess that they're all AT based on this (and very sure of all the blue ones), but the ones that are just gold might make it into slabs. The blue ones should all be bagged.

These are toplinecoins' coins, someone just asked about this seller earlier today.

The commemoratives look original to me. But then again, the greater the beauty of the toning, the more likely we are to think it's bogus.

Same reaction as I had. The commems were questionable but the Barbers, etc. are blatant.

Wow that guy is, or somebody is, pretty good. If you were shown many of them alone you would think they were NT. The two Barbers and three or four others are obvious AT but the rest are excellent.

I don't understand all the fingerprints, they're on almost ever coin? Don't know if they were already on the coins or did he do it on purpose for effect? He could be thumbing them, to lighten'em up, by taking some of the blue off?

If fake tone , then the fingerprints/thumbing would be intentionaly done as well for reasons you guessed .

I think the COMMENS are NT, I have saw way too many of them in PCGS and NGC holders that have
similar color patterns and in some cases even more dramatic. The Barber and Seated Liberty are just plain mottled and ugly. The Quarter Dollar looks NT me, its just not an amazing toner. The Morgans
appear to be a result of BAG TONING to me, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say NT.

If these coins are AT, this person is good and has also perfected a new process of doing it, espically
if he is turning them out in auctions every week or two. If submitted to either PCGS or NGC in small numbers (1-2) at a time, I would predict them returning in crisp new plastic vice Body Bags. Al

Just to add another date point, I recently received the following coin from the same seller, and I can tell you that in the hand the surfaces were harshly stripped.
