Sad story about 1931-S Lincoln...happy ending
Hi all, early last year I spotted a fantastic 1931-S Lincoln in MS65RB. It had lots of red in the surfaces with a cool splash of violet coloring on both sides. I felt the price was a bit high (almost 20% over PCGS retail as a buy it now with no best offer option), so I waited for the auction to end. No one bid on the item, but I sent the dealer an email afterwards offering him PCGS retail. He didn't accept, but instead relisted the item with a slightly lower bid price. I was planning on buying the coin but needed more funds in my account so had to wait a couple days longer than planned. Unfortunately, another buyer came it and got the coin, leaving me very disappointed to say the least. Almost a year later, I happened to find another coin that really got my attention. This time, I didn't hesitate. Take a look at what I picked up, on my birthday no less! I think I made out okay in the end!

My icon IS my coin. It is a gem 1949 FBL Franklin.
I would much rather have the 31-D than the 31-S. And your 31-D looks very nice.
Congrats!

I agree, 31-D is much tougher coin.

31-D in that condition is a WAY better find!
There are a lot of UNC 31-S coins out there
