I watch this show every night when nothing else is on and I need a good laugh. The latest tactic (they're pulling this stunt with every item, too!) is that Elliot will begin talking about the next item up for sale, and the price and item number box flashes on the screen, and then that Kevin character bursts in after reportedly returning from a bathroom break to discover that Elliot has mistakenly priced everything too low. Then they have a fake heated argument for 2 minutes whereby it is decided to let the artificially low price stand, and then Kevin calls his wife on the cell phone and tells her to order as many as she can!

It is the funniest thing since the Simple Life. Since every deal they offer is the "best deal ever", it is prudent not to purchase anything until the network's final episode, 20 years down the road, or whenever that might be!

"Elliot! What are you doing! That $499 price was for the SINGLE COIN in MS69, not the lot of 4 coins in MS70! Holy crap Elliot there is hell to pay now! Why do you guys do this to me? You get me on here and then you screw me! We were all having fun in the back but now it's crunchtime. Wait, HOLD ON A MINUTE ELLIOT! You can't do that you can't sell these for that price? Well, I guess I'm going to have to write this off my taxes next year. Hey folks, it's Merry Christmas early! Someone get my wife on the phone... if you're watching honey, call in and order as many of these as you can!"

Yeah I tuned in about 1100 at night and he did this... and I didn't think anything of it. About 40 minutes and 3 items later, he did it again! I guess he thought nobody was still watching that saw the first time he pulled the stunt, but then again who is going to call and get on the air to complain? As I was drifting off to sleep they did it a third time, and that's when I laughed myself to sleep.

I feel dirty after watching those guys. My mom watches HSN all day long and tells me about all the neat coins she sees on the program. Even after repeated warnings to never buy me anything form those scums she still wants to do it. I cannot believe they get away with that crap. Go to the HSM website if you want to see some more bargains.

I notice that too a week or two back. Those two jokers won't be up for any Oscar awards anytime soon, either. Funny stuff.

Why wouldn't Kevin just go the dumpster behind the set where these gems are stored and let the boss know he's taking a few home to save on shipping?

Oh, another funny from last night. He was hocking modern-issue Kennedy halves (key dates) and said the bags of kennedy's in their vault were guarded more heavily than the gold bullion. "I can walk into that vault and pick around the gold coins no problem, but when I go near these kennedy bags, the security is all over me. Hey! What are you doing near those!"

The other night I heard "Now Shop at Home, the network, or company are not stating that these silver anniversary sets will increase in value, that's not what we are about; but I, personally, am saying that these will double in value."

It's a train wreck, but I can't look away...

I make a distinction in my mind, however, between otherwise nice coins that just happen to be WAY WAY overpriced, and lousy junk (which is also overpriced).

I have watched many many hours of all of these shows, and "Coin Vault" (Shop at home / Robert Chambers) and "Treasure Hunter" (Celebrity Shopping Network / Jimmy & Laura) USUALLY sell nice coins for crazy prices.

"America's Store", "HSN", and my personal worst "Coin Country" sell JUNK at crazy prices.

I figure that if it's usually newbies that get snared by these shows it's better to wake up one day and realize that you overpaid, but still have a nice collectable piece, than to realize that you overpaid and got garbage (like plated statehood quarters, Silver Eagles with Jessica Lynch painted on them, or mercuries or walkers that look like they've been shined with a rock tumbler.)

I have to watch to see what they're selling. It's important to know what they are
able to get ahold of in mass quantities and to know what their public is buying.

Say what you will but SAH has really improved the last few years and especially the
last few months. Oh sure, you aren't going to get any great deals here probably, but
prices are often less than double wholesale and rarely as high as they used to be. Ev-
en the "valued added" material is more reasonable.

It's interesting to see all of these guys learning a little about moderns over the years.
Some day they'll start really hawking them and I won't be able to defend them anymore.

I think they're all better than all the reality TeeVee and some I can watch with the sound
off.

No ads; that puts 'em one up on reality TeeVee from the getgo.
