No, I think it will hold at 66.

You think the hair over the ear is limiting?

<< <i>You think the hair over the ear is limiting? >>

Absolutely... it's already flatter than a typical slightly weak strike.

In addition to the above... from the picture, it would appear that the breast feathers are not clearly definitized (wear I presume).. this would hold it back. Cheers, RickO

IMO that's the ONLY limiting factor is that area. The eye appeal is, IMO, immaculately delicious.

send it to NGC, you'll have a better shot of getting it into a 67 holder

Honestly, it's got a clean cheek, but otherwise looks like a typical, dipped Morgan. I own three white Morgans:
    - 1880-S PCGS MS65 with very thick frost and near 66 surfaces
    - 1884-CC PCGS MS64 with a truly original skin
    - 1898-O NGC MS63DPL with 12"+ mirrors and cameo frost

Those are qualities that make white Morgans nice coins. If it's just clean, it's not interesting.

I was expecting to see an O mint mark on the back of this coin with the mush over the ear. Great coin technically, but IMO absolutely maxxed out at 66 with that strike.

Sandhawk.. thanks for the credit.. but it is already a word.... Although I have been known to 'coin' a few utterances... some of which have stuck... that is not one of them. Cheers, RickO
