That is the reason PCGS will only give a top grade of MS69 on these type of coins.
  • Yes I have one with spots, so much for burnishing the planchets.

  • image Yes, just got a NGC MS69 2006W 20th Anniversary ASE and it has a prominent white spot on the reverse. Very disgusting.

I had one, sent in unopened in the sets, that came back MS68 and had spots. I didn't further investigate if there were other reasons for the grade. The spots were enough.
    I sold it. I didn't want it.

This is very interesting since most SAE's require a stabilizing rinse prior to slabbing to minimize the amount of Milk Spots that form over the years. I wonder how many 20th Anniversary Sets, both First Strike and non-First Strike will get ruined because of Milk Spots due to the fact that we could not see them before submitting them much less stabilize them? image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

I will note that NO SAE has gotten milk spots while actually in my possession (last couple of years), raw or certified.
I had a couple that had them (bought in bulk deals) and this last one was there either straight from the USMint or while at PCGS as I opened the package right up when I received it from PCGS and it was spotted.

So, I am not sure how many "will turn" in their holders....but this was already there.

Didn't either RonGuth or DavidHall say something to the effect that MS69s can have some small spotting (no clarification on how much/many) and still be "good for the grade"?
I would ask in the Q&A forum but that obviously is about the lowest thing on the PCGS list of priorities around.
Well, that and Presidential Reviews....(almost 2 months on that now)
