Have you ever played around with Second Chance scam artists?

I've got one on the hook, now, for that amazingly toned Morgan that I didn't win for $1500.. I've gotten some spoof messages from eBay now, but the scammer must not to too bright; he sent me an invoice with the correct item # but for a SLR camera. I also got the following from suport@e-squaretrade.com.

My name is Fred Brewer from the eBay Safety Center.

Are these Nigerians? The whole thing seems to have a slight international flavor to it. The "Seller" claims he is in London now. At what point can I call the police? At any point?

I played once with a European guy, and while it was entertaining for a few minutes letting him think that I was going to wire money to him in Bulgaria, ultimately it was a waste of time and not at all gratifying.

I did play with a Nigerian once and actually got a call at 3:00 am in the morning, asking for "Dr. Denniss Longo", my alt identity I created of a retired dentist.

Only one, but I wasn't PLAYING... it was hours of "checking out with references, her son, his job, their addresses and a few things. Seems the winning bidder was just seeing how high I would go. I negotiated it way down to where it ended when the WINNER trumped me.

I agree ... Best to not answer your door when strangers knock. That is for sure.

When scammers have your phone number and are calling at 3:00 AM I'd say that you are playing with fire. And generally playing with fire has a predictable outcome.

Best to ignore this stuff. I need to change my personal email address because I get so much spam, it is hard to keep track of the real messages that I get.
