An interesting situation concerning ASE MS69s.........

Lets face it, collectors like complete sets.
Having said that I'll point out there is an interesting situation in the populations of First Strike ASEs.
While there are 2459 graded PR69/70DCAMs and 1945 reverse proofs graded PR69/70 there are only a total of 1559 of the Unc. graded MS69(no70s).
Now if a collector wants to assemble a complete set of MS69-PR69-PR69DCAM or a set of finest known 69MS-PR70-PR70DCAM he is running into a shortage of the MS69s!!
I will not be surprised if we see the FS 20th Anniversary MS69s end up equaling the reverse proof PR69s in price.

Yep. To me, 1500 is not a small number and shouldn't be any trouble putting those coins together in a set.

To get the FS designation, didn't the coins have to be submitted intact in sealed boxes, and wouldn't that mean an equal number of each of the FS coins graded? Or is it that people could specify only certain coins in the sets be graded and the rest returned?

Or, arrive by the cutoff date.

First in the case of the regular proofs there is a very high percentage that grade PR69/70DCam.
Secondly many of the first shipped sets were opened and while you could still submit the Reverse Proof for FS and 20th Anniversary inserts the Unc and the regular proofs didn't qualify.
Look at PCGS sets on Eaby and you'll see a significant number now showing up where the Reverse Proof and the regular proof are First Strike while the Unc. lacks the FS designation.
All I am saying is someone with a FS Reverse and FS regular proof is going to want a MS with that same little FS flag to match his other two coins. No arguement as to whether it makes any sense, just an observation..................

As long as it is done slowly over time the market will not be saturated (maybe already getting close) and prices will either stabilize or start to go back up at some time.

Actually the First Strike 20th Anniversary Silver MS69 ASEs are now bringing more than the PR69 Reverse Proofs!

It seems you were right.
Just check ebay.
I didn't agree or disagree at the time. But did think there was some merit. My 20th FS MS69's did better than the Rev PR69's. That is where I thought you were wrong, I thought the Rev Pr would be the leader. But hey.

As long as the unopended box has the required dates, yes. I turned mine in at the SC show on 11-18, the box was marked 10-19. I received all designations.
