I have no plans on starting this set, but would be interested in knowing or following the prices in respects to SMR on this set.

    Good luck

I"m short 5 cards (2 Ruths, both Gehrigs, and Lajoie) and have been for about 4 years. Maybe this is the year I get this set finished.
Most of the set is raw, but here's a few that are graded:
A patent card- Goudey sent in 1 of each card to the patent office to register the design. As such, these are 1 of 1's. I've got the card with the patent office stamp as well, but it's not scanned yet:
    image
Here's a wrapper, they are pretty easy to find and make a nice companion piece
    image

And a couple of cards (sorry for the dust squiggle on the chip, I'll reshoot them one day):

I've been following the PSA 8 prices realized on ebay for the last few months.

It seems like the high end market is flat to down slighty. #126 for example, Joe Moore, one of the most common "commons" has traded at $393, 348 and 355 since sept. Some other PSA 8 commons have gone below $350.

Any opinions on the high grade market?

here are scans of a couple of my favorite commons, from an aesthetic point of view.

This Pipgras is miscut, but with 8 corners. Graded 8MC
    image

here are a couple of HOFers:

The 207 Ott is really tough to find centered because the white border section is so thin. This one is a PSA 7
    image

The 222 Gehringer is one of my favorites for the purple background, the only card with this background in the set. This one is a PSA 5

Here are a couple scans of the Goudey Patent cards that Griffins was referring to. The last one is a scan of one of the backs. You can see the markings and stamps made by the U.S. Patent Office.

I was actually shooting for that RUTH in PSA1, the one that ended at 1276.12. I was the underbidder.....Oh well....

But I did snag these tonite...... I was on my laptop and was bidding feverishly. I hope you weren't after these....

I was outbid on 12 others including that Ruth.

Well Goose..... you out bid me on the #100 uhle by a $1. I will give you $2 extra to buy it off you. image That is ok. I have him in PSA 3. The rest I have equal or 1+ grade. Hope you had a good night bidding. I was high bidder for 4 with others to be determined tomorrow. All just upgrades, though.

Still stuck at 93% graded. Psa just sent me a form to send in for three FREE grading (once set is 75%+), so soon I will have #29,189,and 227 marked off.

James...I hope you did as well as I did tonite. My roadrunner connection is terrible tonite and I had a TOUGH time bidding....I don't think I outbid you on any tonite But, ...I got a little whacky ...Zardoz51 had some killer stuff and I couldn't help myself, especially on the last one. I figured since I got outbid on that Ruth last nite, I'd pick up a nice card tonite.

I'm going to guess that's boguss.....but what do I know..

I think the Ott looks really vibrant. I liked the picture on the Goose Goslin card the best of all of them that I won.

I went ahead and plugged mine into the registry......I'd like to stick to 4's for the most part but will have to dip below that for a few of them.

You can see them below. I'll try and add the pics later this week.

    good stuff!

I've placed a few lowball bids since my 1700.00 zardoz bill but haven't won much......
