13-S Type II 1/2 neck variety

Okay, so I figure it is not a variety but rather just poor strike but has anyone see an instance like there where the neck is basically non-existent right of the braid?

Appears to be an abraded die variety-not a poor strike. Pretty dramatic, too.

Very cool that it would manifest in a key area so dramatically. Also very odd considering how completely it is struck in the areas just adjacent to it. If it were April Fools Day, I'd suggest you photoshopped it!

Are you sure what appears to be a missing detail (the neck) isn't just the result of the angle of light? I'd bet $10 the neck is actually there.

There IS a 1930-S that is missing almost the entire neck, so such a variety is possible. Let us know if you can confirm the variety.
