Grabted there was some flamethrowing there. some of the hottest flames would come from "irregulars" there-some of the thesame posters who stir things up and cause a bruhaha whenever they post re say wannabes.
That was the funny thing about the OF. If one only scanned the headers and read the political flaming threads-one could easily miss the sense of community. Many of the most generous folks, both "here" and in the OFR, were active posters in the old CUOF. Don
Wow. While I was busy enjoying Christmas, Guy posts a thread here with a lighthearted jab and a wink. He was both proud of the donations he generated and wanting to get the posters here excited about it and challenged to do the same. Instead he got, on Christmas day, massively flamed. Shame on all of you.

People, who cares? It's a thread posted about a charity auction on Christmas day. Regardless of your personal beliefs about the motives of the OP, why can't you guys just hold back your anger, smile, and say "congratulations and Merry Christmas"?

Why do you say "their nature", as if to point out one side of a crowd? I see some "not-niceness" but both sides of the crowd. And it isn't limited to just posts on this forum...... In the Christmas spirit, I have done a lot of tongue-biting reading the thread, and will continue to not say much on it, but I will say....a lot of posters are just itching to prove themselves (or "group") better than others, or to start fights. No group is innocent...not "YN", not "us", not "them". One group is bitter about a loss of a posting place, another is bitter about other actions. Put "oil" and "water" together and you may as well still light the match and run away.
he's selling another item that is going for a whole lot of money above market value. Whomever is bidding, it is nice to see the holiday spirit is alive, membership aside.

I am stunned at the malevolent replies from many of you. I'm on BOTH forums, have enjoyed both forums and find that every criticism that one can make is prevalent on BOTH forums.
This board has more than it's share of misanthrops, negs, contrarians and belligerants, just as the other board. Funny thing is that many of the members of the OF were founding members of THIS forum, still participate here and are very constructive in their posts. I'll offer myself as such a person. Yeah, I will go toe to toe if someone shows ignorance, prejudice or just plain old "disagreeableness", but I still aim to enrich myself and those in the threads I post in.
How can you possibly flame people who are amongst you for giving their money unselfishly for charity?
And I will stand with Guy Yocom in my foxhole ANY DAY, ANY WHERE when it comes to great character, humanity and integrity.
You want to fight with Guy...I'm standing with him.
Now quit with this petty contest and share in a little human kindness.

<< <i>I didn't see a "charity" drive from Boom this year. >>
How observant! No you didn't.
A Lifelong commitment still transpired without so much as a word being spoken.
Donors gave of their own accord and asked no questions. BTW, no one was invited to partake.
Proceeds went to St. Francis' Diner. People were fed and gifts given to children there as well.
Most of the proceeds from my own auctions and items sold on the BS&T Forum went to Charity anonymously to Help
the Helpers. Heh-heh!
Merry Christmas.
