Does anyone know Tom Reynolds a coin dealer? A kid's recommendation.

My Dad and I met him at our monthly coin show yesterday and he was really, really nice. I showed him the dansco album of flying eagle and indian head cents I'm working on and he told me which ones were good and which ones were that good and what to look for in a nice cent. I saw one I liked in his case and looked at it and asked him if he thought it was a good one for my set. He looked at it and showed me some good htings about it for it's grade and stuff. ( it was a 1882 Indian Head cent in fine condition.) Then when I asked how much, he gave it too me!

Most dealers won't even talk to a kid.

Then, I found out we have one of the same friends! Rick Snow! So we talked about that for a while too.

He was really helpful, really nice and it's funny but it's like you kind of like the coins you get from a dealer more if you like the dealer who helped you get it. Coins and people really go together for me. image If someone is mean and rude, (being busy is one thing but even a kid knows when somebody is rude) even if they have a coin I want I think I would rather wait and go somewhere else and find somebody like Mr. Reynolds.

It was a great day at the coin show! image

Customer service is THE driving force for a successful business. Putting aside businesses that succeed in spite of themselves (i.e. high demand new technology), service and attention to the customer will bring repeat business - poor service, on the other hand, will result in customers shopping elsewhere. Poor customer service is an opportunity for competitors. Cheers, RickO

I've never dealt with him personally, but I've heard nothing but good things about Tom Reynolds. This only adds another data point.
  • Tom's a super guy, and a real straight shooter. If you like the Large Cents, spend all the time you can with him.

  • That's a real nice early die state 1804, jcarney. I had a late state 1804 with the observe cuds.
It was about like this one for quality. I paid $50 for mine when I was collecting the Large Cents about 20 years ago.
I sold off my Large Cents a few years ago.

Tom Reynolds is one of the finest dealers around. He has a tendency to actually take time to educate and/or just chat with his customers or anyone else who wishes to talk about coins, especially Large Cents and Half Cents.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tom a year or so ago at a show. We talked a lot about grading because I saw some Washington quarters in his display that were killer 66, so I thought. He said, "nah, not even close, but an easy 65".
We even talked a little about Laura... He looked at me and said, "yeah... she is sharp, Joe".
Then he got a pleasant smile on his face and said, "she likes to call me a copper weenie" , almost like he was proud to know her.

He had a table full of Large Cents, I noticed, so I laughed and said, "Oh yeah, that's her"

A great guy to chat with, with lots of nice coins on his table.
  • does he sell merc dimes?

I'm happy to endorse Tom Reynolds also. I've purchased several half cents and large cents from him, he also has successfully represented me at auctions.
