Does anyone have interest in this commerative coin and think it is going to be a hit with collecters? It is available January 10th 2007 but you probably won't recieve it till June of 2007. Any potential there to maybe flip for quick profit? Here is the

The reality is that coins that look good are not the ones that have low mintage.... its the dogs that become the winners.....
When Jackie came out, everyone was tired of buying more expensive comm's and there was little interest....hence low mintage....as it turns out, it became the key....
regardless, I know they are modern, but I am still a big fan of the $5 gold moderns....IMHO they have really low mintages and are interesting...each one tells a nice story......I just would not recommend paying the big premium for buying a 70 when you can have a 69 for much less dollars....

Those are too high for any kind of stampede or for efforts to attempt to buy up as many as possible. Might be a very nice coin, but in this case, I don't think too many people will buy more than they intend to keep (or give away) as collectibles.

Quite right--though in '96 gold wasn't getting the attention in the media as it is now. The SF gold commem mintage is likely to be one of the highest mintages in recent years, as the mint director is focused on filling their own coffers for restoration. (I believe mint sales end tomorrow.) PCGS graded 69s in both proof and MS are available on eBay beneath the cost for individuals purchasing them and having them graded. My guess is the coins will still be around these levels when the Jamestown becomes available.
With less impetus by the mint to push this coin, the SF kind of languishing, and some collectors planning on ponying up around $425 for each of the 4 'First Hags', my guess is the mintage of the Jamestown works out considerably lower; however nowhere near as low as the Robinson, Smithsonian, Library, First Flight etc.
I'm pretty cool on both the subject and the design, but as I'm a gold commem collector, I'm in.

Yes, unless another gets authorized during the year (as was the case with SF old mint commem). The second commemorates the 50th anniversary of desegregation of Little Rock HS.

Usually not on Commems.
Funny how the commems swing back and forth like a pendulum with the public getting excited by new series or attractive bits and then getting bored by repeating or dull themes and too many offerings and so slow buying creating the "better" bits. Remember when the White House Dollar was big stuff? I agree that these will not be particularly scarce (like the SF coins) and probably will be offered in shops in Williamsburg/Jamestown,etc.
